AMA Waterways Review: Overview

We love cruising of all types and we have worked with every major and most minor brands in the cruise space, but it has been a long time since Danny has been this excited and passionate about a product.  Simply put AMA Waterways is really, really excellent at what they do.

In this review, we will go over Danny’s trip on the AMAPrima during April for Tulip Time and will cover the following topics:

  1. Ships
  2. Dining
  3. Rooms
  4. Excursions
  5. My Conclusion

OVERVIEW

This starts at the top with their founders and co-owners the late Jimmy Murphy, the engineer and architect Rudi Schriner and the delightful head of sales Kristin Karst. This is a family owned company and it shows.  They are willing and able to make the changes necessary on each sailing to do what right for the guest experience.  For example, they intentionally built their ships with a shallow draft to avoid ship swaps.  In 2015 when their competitors had dozens of ship swaps, they had zero.

WHY AMAWATERWAYS?

What sets them apart is their passion and drive to continually put out the best product.  Through it all, they make their employees and passengers feel like family.  When this year’s Berlitz River Cruise guide was published, their ships held an unbelievable and unprecedented top 11 spots.

In the next few blogs I will be going over my recent personal experience with AMA’s ships, dining, rooms, excursions, and my overall product review of AMAWaterways.
