Symphony of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s fourth Oasis Class ship pairs Central Park, the Boardwalk and the AquaTheater with Hooked Seafood, Playmakers and the two-level Ultimate Family Suite, all of which debuted on board. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

The Oasis Class Ship That Introduced the Ultimate Family Suite

Symphony of the Seas entered service in 2018 as the fourth Oasis Class ship, and at 228,081 gross tons she was the largest cruise ship in the world when Danny filmed this tour. She has seven neighborhoods, from Central Park and the Boardwalk to the Royal Promenade. She also brought several firsts to Royal Caribbean: the Ultimate Family Suite, Hooked Seafood, Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, El Loco Fresh and Battle for Planet Z laser tag.

She sails seven-night Western Caribbean cruises from Galveston, then moves to Fort Lauderdale in 2027 for six- and eight-night Caribbean sailings with Perfect Day CocoCay. Danny filmed this tour on a boarding day in Miami, so a few details, like the show lineup, have changed since. Symphony of the Seas Highlights

Sports Deck & Thrills on Symphony of the Seas

Sports Deck & Thrills

Symphony’s top deck is packed with things to do. Two FlowRider surf simulators let you surf or bodyboard, and the zip line flies you across the open-air Boardwalk while the ship sails. The Ultimate Abyss dry slide drops all the way down to the Boardwalk and is one of the fastest at sea. There’s also the Symphony Dunes mini golf course, a full sports court, and the Wipeout Bar with stadium seating beside the FlowRider.

Danny's tip: “Just so you know, you'll sign a waiver at the desk up top for all of these. If your kids want to ride, I'd make sure a parent goes with them, because you have to authorize it.”

Pool Deck & The Perfect Storm

The pool deck has a main pool, a beach pool where the bottom loungers sit right in the water, a sports pool for volleyball, and Splashaway Bay, a splash zone with a slide for little kids. The Perfect Storm adds three waterslides: two racers and Supercell, a champagne-bowl slide you swirl around before dropping out the bottom. Cantilevered whirlpools hang off the sides of the ship, with glass behind you and TVs above.

Danny's tip: “The soft serve is on both sides of the pool deck, and it's the only thing on the ship I'll wait in line for.”

Solarium & Hooked Seafood on Symphony of the Seas

Solarium & Hooked Seafood

The Solarium is an adults-only retreat on two levels at the front of the ship, with plush loungers, day beds, hot tubs, a bar and a pool with a see-through acrylic wall. Chairs curve around to face the bow and the sides. The Solarium Bistro serves a complimentary buffet, including Indian dishes Danny enjoys. Upstairs, Hooked Seafood, which debuted on Symphony, is a New England seafood shack with oysters and lobster rolls (extra cost).

Danny's tip: “The day beds in the Solarium go pretty quickly, so keep that in mind. Then step out onto the glass wing for a photo. I always do a little Jack and Rose.”

Kids & Teens

Adventure Ocean is included in your fare for potty-trained kids from age 3, with Aquanauts, Explorers and Voyagers groups, a science lab, the Imagination Studio and its own theater. Royal Babies & Tots cares for little ones from 6 to 36 months (extra cost). Teens 12 to 17 get the Living Room lounge and the Fuel teen club. Families can share Escape the Rubicon, laser tag in Studio B and the Challengers arcade (extra cost).

Danny's tip: “I'd go on the very first day to get your kids signed up, and note which family members can pick them up. If you don't, they won't release them.”

Wonderland & Specialty Dining on Symphony of the Seas

Wonderland & Specialty Dining

Symphony still has Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine, where you paint your menu with water to reveal it and dishes look like one thing but taste like another. The specialty lineup also includes Chops Grille, 150 Central Park, Jamie’s Italian, Izumi Hibachi & Sushi and Hooked Seafood. Most carry an extra cost unless you have a dining package. At Izumi, Danny’s family loves the hibachi tables, and you can still order sushi there.

Danny's tip: “When you come into Wonderland, make sure you find Alice. My daughter loves that kind of hunt, and it is a fun thing to do as a family.”

Central Park

Central Park is an open-air garden in the middle of the ship and a signature of the Oasis Class, with thousands of live plants and living walls that climb several decks. It’s home to Chops Grille, 150 Central Park, Jamie’s Italian, the Vintages wine bar and the Trellis Bar. Park Café serves grab-and-go salads, paninis and a carvery. The Rising Tide bar slowly rides three decks between the Royal Promenade and the park.

Danny's tip: “When I pick a Central Park balcony, I choose one close to the living wall. I think that's the most beautiful part of the park.”

Shows & Studio B on Symphony of the Seas

Shows & Studio B

The Royal Theater stages the Broadway musical Hairspray and Flight, a Royal Caribbean original that tells the history of flying in reverse, from a trip to Mars back to the Wright brothers. Studio B hosts ice shows, open skating and Battle for Planet Z laser tag. Nearby, Entertainment Place has live music at Jazz on 4, comedy and silent parties in The Attic, and a large casino with table games and live poker.

Boardwalk & AquaTheater

The Boardwalk is an open-air seaside pier with a hand-carved wooden carousel, the Dog House, Sugar Beach for candy and ice cream (extra cost), Johnny Rockets, and Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, which debuted on Symphony. The Ultimate Abyss lands here too, next to two rock climbing walls. At the far end, the AquaTheater stage turns into a deep pool for HiRO, a show of high dives, acrobatics and special effects.

Danny's tip: “The AquaTheater Suites are my favorite rooms on the ship. You get the serenity of the ocean and the energy of the AquaTheater and the Boardwalk.”

The Ultimate Family Suite

Royal Caribbean's first Ultimate Family Suite sits above the Boardwalk on two levels, with a slide from the kids' room down to the living room and a balcony with a hot tub and a climbing course for kids.

El Loco Fresh

Fast-casual Mexican debuted on Symphony at El Loco Fresh on the pool deck, with quesadillas, burritos, make-your-own nachos and a salsa bar. Danny says it worked so well that Royal is adding it to other ships.

▶ See it · 4:43

Battle for Planet Z

Studio B's ice rink becomes a glow-in-the-dark laser tag arena for Battle for Planet Z, which debuted on Symphony. Danny has loved laser tag since the '90s and calls it a lot of fun for families.
