Disney Dream

The Disney Dream pairs classic ocean-liner style with the AquaDuck water coaster, rotational dining with servers who follow you from restaurant to restaurant, and adults-only spaces like Palo, Remy and The District. We’ve walked the decks, so you can see the ship before you book.

The Ship That Launched the Dream Class

The Disney Dream entered service in January 2011 as the first Dream Class ship and the twin sister of the Disney Fantasy. At nearly 130,000 gross tons she is much larger than the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, and Danny points out that Disney used the extra room well: Nemo’s Reef, Animator’s Palate and Palo all grew, and new spaces arrived, from the AquaDuck water coaster to the adults-only District and Remy.

Danny filmed this tour with his family on a four-night Halloween on the High Seas sailing to Nassau and Disney Castaway Cay, so a few details, like show times and some menus, have changed since. He walks you from the pool deck and the AquaDuck down through Palo, Remy, the Senses Spa, the kids clubs and all three main dining rooms. Disney Dream Highlights

Pool Deck & AquaDuck on Disney Dream

Pool Deck & AquaDuck

The family pool deck centers on Mickey's Pool with its Mickey slide, Donald's Pool, and the giant Funnel Vision screen for movies and deck parties. Nemo's Reef, a splash zone for the littlest cruisers, is far bigger than on the Magic and Wonder. Overhead runs the AquaDuck, a three-story water coaster where jets of water push two-person rafts uphill, then out through a clear tube 20 feet off the side of the ship.

Danny's tip: “I always check the height rules before we head up: 38 inches for the Mickey slide and 42 inches for the AquaDuck. Nothing's worse than getting a kiddo excited and then finding out they aren't quite tall enough.”

Quiet Cove & Adults-Only Decks

Forward, Quiet Cove is reserved for guests 18 and up, with a pool, misters, a whirlpool, plush loungers, double sun beds and the Cove Bar. Cove Café serves Illy coffee, specialty drinks, teas and pastries, and its big windows face the pool. One deck up, Currents is an Art Deco bar with more adults-only loungers, glass windbreaks, and the Satellite Falls wading pool. Danny loves how much wider the forward decks feel than on the older ships.

Danny's tip: “My favorite place on any ship is the coffee shop. At Cove Café I go for one of the chocolate coffee specialties, and it's a calm spot to start the morning.”

Cabanas & Flo's Café on Disney Dream

Cabanas & Flo's Café

Cabanas is the casual buffet, themed to Finding Nemo, with stations covering pizza, pastas, carved meats, a full salad bar and Asian dishes, plus desserts and grab-and-go sandwiches. Danny's favorites are the snow crab claws and shrimp. On the pool deck, Flo's Café is a Cars-themed food court with Luigi's Pizza, Tow Mater's Grill, Fillmore's Favorites and now Ramone's Cantina. Soft serve at Eye Scream and the self-serve soda stations are included.

Danny's tip: “One of my favorite spots on any Disney ship is the terrace behind Cabanas. When you're sailing there's a nice breeze, it's never crowded, and it has some of the best views on board.”

Palo, Remy & Meridian

Deck 12 aft is an adults-only enclave for dinner and drinks. Palo serves Northern Italian cuisine under Venetian glass, with raised seating so nearly every table gets an ocean view and a large wine collection. Remy, inspired by Ratatouille, presents a French menu from three-Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement, with a wine cave and a private room that becomes a chef's table. Meridian, the lounge between them, has outdoor terraces facing the wake. Both restaurants carry an extra charge.

Danny's tip: “If you're celebrating with a group of grown-ups, ask about the chef's table at the very back of Palo. It's the ultimate intimate dining space on a Disney ship.”

Goofy's Sports Deck on Disney Dream

Goofy's Sports Deck

Goofy's Sports Deck sits on the top deck with a full basketball court used for everything from pickup games to dodgeball, foosball, and a whimsical mini golf course with Goofy and Max at every hole. Virtual sports simulators let guests play golf, football, hockey and more. Danny's favorite view of the AquaDuck is from here, where you can watch riders climb into the funnel and loop out over the ocean.

Danny's tip: “Bring a big water bottle. There are refill stations all over the ship, and I've spent a ton of money on bottled water on other cruise lines.”

Senses Spa & Salon

Senses Spa & Salon sits forward on deck 11, with a barber shop, a full salon for hair, manicures and pedicures, acupuncture, and treatment rooms with views straight off the bow. The Rainforest Room has aromatherapy steam rooms, heated stone loungers and hot tubs facing the ocean, open with a treatment or a day or cruise pass. The fitness center shares a smoothie bar with the spa and puts the treadmills right at the windows.

Danny's tip: “In the Rainforest Room, I love the heated stone loungers.”

Kids Clubs on Disney Dream

Kids Clubs

Deck 5 is the kids' zone. The "it's a small world" nursery takes little ones from 6 months to 3 years. Disney's Oceaneer Club is theme-based, with Andy's Room from Toy Story and a Star Wars Millennium Falcon space, while the Oceaneer Lab next door focuses on hands-on activities. Kids check in with a wristband, so counselors always know where they are. Tweens have Edge, and teens 14 to 17 have Vibe.

Danny's tip: “My daughter wears her Mickey band, so I can always ask the counselors which room she's in. It's the most stress-free I've ever been with a kiddo on a cruise.”

The District

After dark, The District becomes an adults-only nightlife area. District Lounge hosts jazz, singers and tastings. Pub 687 is a sports bar named for the ship's shipyard hull number, with blueprints and construction photos on the walls. Evolution, the biggest space, hosts dancing, comedy and cabaret. Pink pours the ship's largest champagne selection, and Skyline is a cozy cocktail bar whose city-skyline windows change through the evening.

Danny's tip: “At Skyline, the view behind the bar keeps changing all night. It's the smallest bar on board, and I love how intimate it feels.”
