Hotel Captain Cook
Anchorage’s classic downtown hotel, where Princess cruisetours spend a night at the start or end of the land tour.
A night downtown
The Hotel Captain Cook has been Anchorage’s grand hotel since 1965, and it’s the only Preferred Hotels & Resorts member in Alaska. Every room looks out on Cook Inlet, the Chugach Mountains or the city, and the hallways double as a gallery of Captain James Cook’s voyages in art, stained glass and woodwork.
On a Princess cruisetour it’s a one-night stop, so think of it as a comfortable landing: walk downtown, have a good dinner and get ready for your flight or the next leg.
Inside the stay
Where to eat
The Crow’s Nest, on top of Tower III, is the special-occasion dinner, with views over the inlet and mountains and a big wine list (dinner Tuesday to Saturday, business casual). Fletcher’s is a relaxed English-style pub with seafood, pizza and pasta, and the Whale’s Tail serves Pacific Rim-inspired dishes and cocktails. The Pantry covers breakfast and The Cubby has coffee and grab-and-go food.
Rooms & extras
Deluxe rooms have two doubles or one king, with air conditioning, windows that open and blackout drapes, which help with the late summer sunsets. Junior suites add a separate living area. All guests can use the athletic clubs, with separate women’s and men’s facilities, a pool and classes.
Tours that stay here
- Princess 2027 and 2028 cruisetours
- How long. 1 night here, most often 1 night.
- Want more time here? Some tours add an extra night. Tell your advisor and we’ll find the version that fits.
Before you go
- Walk the city. Guests who stay here tell us they love being able to walk to downtown sights and restaurants. The Coastal Trail starts a few blocks away.
- Plan around check-in. Anchorage hotel check-in is typically 4 p.m. on the first day of a cruisetour, and checkout is 11 a.m. Give your advisor your flight times so we can plan your arrival day.
- Your ship packages stay on the ship. Ship dining and beverage packages don’t apply on the land portion, for any brand. Meals here are pay as you go unless your tour includes them.
