Celebrity Ascent

Celebrity’s fourth Edge Series ship pairs some of the best ocean views at sea with The Retreat, Eden, the Magic Carpet and Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

The Fourth Edge Series Ship, Refined From Top to Bottom

Celebrity Ascent joined the fleet in late 2023 as the fourth ship in Celebrity’s Edge Series, after Celebrity Edge, Apex and Beyond. She builds on Beyond’s bigger layout, with a roomy Resort Deck, a two-story Retreat Sundeck, a Sunset Bar designed by Nate Berkus and two float pools cantilevered over the side of the Rooftop Garden. She also added a larger Grand Plaza with the Martini Bar moved to the center, and Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud.

Danny calls Ascent another evolution of the design and engineering work Celebrity started with the Edge, and says the ship has some of the best ocean views in the industry. He walks you through the ship from the Resort Deck and the Magic Carpet all the way down to Camp at Sea and Destination Gateway. Celebrity Ascent Highlights

Resort Deck on Celebrity Ascent

Resort Deck

Ascent’s Resort Deck is built to be used from early morning until late at night. One of the largest pools in the industry runs down the middle, with a big pool bar behind it and two champagne-glass hot tubs above. Loungers face both the sea and the pool, and cabanas line the poolside for a Las Vegas beach-club feel. Each Edge Series ship has its own signature sculpture, and on Ascent it’s a giant chrome octopus.

Danny's tip: “We had the Shine the Night party out here and it was an absolute blast. Make sure you pack your sequins and bright colored clothes for dancing the night away.”

Magic Carpet

The Magic Carpet is the orange platform cantilevered off the side of the ship, and it moves between decks. On Deck 14 or 16 it’s a bar and lounge with tables for two and four, high-top bar seats and sweeping views straight out to sea. On Deck 5 it becomes Dinner on the Edge, an upgraded specialty experience with dishes from Raw on 5. On tender days it drops to Deck 2 and becomes the boarding platform for Destination Gateway.

Danny's tip: “When it heads all the way down to Deck 2, it's a tender platform. Destination Gateway is air conditioned, so coming back from a great port is so much more comfortable than the old lifeboat days.”

Rooftop Garden & Sunset Bar on Celebrity Ascent

Rooftop Garden & Sunset Bar

The Rooftop Garden is filled with live plants and cozy nooks, with yoga in the morning, pickleball and games by day, and movies on a big screen at night. Two float pools reach out over the side of the ship. Rooftop Garden Grill serves barbecue from an open kitchen (extra cost). All the way aft, the Moroccan-themed Sunset Bar by Nate Berkus steps down in tiers toward the wake, with a bandstand for live music.

Danny's tip: “The aft is always my favorite part of a ship, and the Sunset Bar is where I love to drink before dinner, after dinner, any time of day. At the Rooftop Garden Grill, I absolutely love the short rib chili.”

The Retreat

The Retreat is Celebrity’s ship-within-a-ship for suite guests. The two-story Retreat Sundeck has a large pool, hot tubs cantilevered off the side, daybeds and loungers, its own bar, and a lunch restaurant known for the Luminae Burger. The expanded Retreat Lounge is home base for the concierge team, so you can skip the guest relations desk. Luminae sits at the very top front of the ship and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Danny's tip: “At Luminae, my favorite seats in the entire house are right up front, looking out. You get the same incredible views the captain does.”

Eden on Celebrity Ascent

Eden

Eden is a three-story space at the back of the ship, wrapped in glass with near 180-degree views. By day it’s a calm, light-filled spot with lounge seating, and at night the dance floor hosts production-style shows and lounge acts. The bar is known for creative cocktails, some served in a little treasure chest. Eden Café serves complimentary soups and salads, and Eden Restaurant offers inventive dinners from an open kitchen.

Danny's tip: “Eden Restaurant is by far the most popular specialty restaurant on board, so pre-book it. I dream about the rolls, and the branzino is my favorite meal in the entire industry.”

AquaClass & Blu

AquaClass is Celebrity’s spa-inspired stateroom category, and Danny sees it as a great upgrade for guests not quite ready for a suite. AquaClass guests get access to the SEA Thermal Suite for the whole cruise, with heated stone loungers, a salt room, steam rooms and an infrared sauna. They also dine at Blu for breakfast and dinner every day at no extra cost. Aqua Sky Suite guests can choose Blu, Luminae or both.

Danny's tip: “The first time I had AquaClass, I was a little nervous about what spa cuisine meant at Blu. It absolutely blew me away. Those rooms fill up quick.”

Grand Plaza & Specialty Dining on Celebrity Ascent

Grand Plaza & Specialty Dining

The Grand Plaza is the beating heart of Ascent, and it’s bigger than on the earlier Edge Series ships. The Martini Bar moved to the middle, with flair bartending under the LED chandelier, live music and silent discos. Around it are Cafe al Bacio, Le Grand Bistro, Craft Social and the World Class Bar. One level up are Fine Cut Steakhouse and Raw on 5, which serves sushi, sashimi and seafood towers.

Danny's tip: “Raw on 5 is my happy place, and my all-time favorite are those seafood towers. It's one of the most popular, so pre-book. At Fine Cut, it's always the rib eye for me.”

Four Main Restaurants

Instead of one big dining room, Ascent has four complimentary main restaurants: Cyprus, a nod to Celebrity’s Greek heritage; Cosmopolitan, with New York City vibes; Tuscan, which Danny calls the most beautiful of the four; and Normandie, a tribute to the SS Normandie. They share a rotating daily menu and the classics, and each one adds its own signature dishes, so it’s worth trying all four.

Danny's tip: “At Cosmopolitan my favorite is the oxtail. At Tuscan it's all about the carbonara, and at Normandie it's the baked Brie with apple.”

Signature Experiences on Ascent

The Annex

A private room for up to 16 friends, brand new on Ascent when Danny filmed her in 2023. It works as a karaoke lounge, a spot to watch the big game, or a golf simulator. Danny admits he's a terrible golfer, but he had a blast.

▶ See it · 38:28

Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud

Chef Daniel Boulud's travel-inspired restaurant came over from Beyond and expanded on Ascent. It's an intimate room with a mostly French-inspired menu and a private dining room for parties. It fills up, so reserve early.

▶ See it · 47:02

Le Petit Chef

By day Le Grand Bistro is a French café and patisserie, and Danny's favorite boarding-day lunch. At dinner it becomes Le Petit Chef, where projectors turn each table into a stage for tiny animated chefs. Pre-reserve it.
