Celebrity Edge

The ship that started Celebrity’s Edge Series brought the Magic Carpet, Eden, two-story Edge Villas and Infinite Verandas to sea for the first time. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

The First Edge Series Ship, Designed from the Inside Out

Celebrity Edge entered service in December 2018 as the first ship in Celebrity’s Edge Series, and the first cruise ship designed entirely in 3D and virtual reality. That process let designers move the ship’s supports and turn every space outward toward the sea. She introduced the Magic Carpet, Eden, the Rooftop Garden, Edge Villas and Infinite Veranda staterooms, all of which later carried over to her sisters. Her godmother is Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.

Danny filmed this tour in 2021 while sailing with his family, so a few details on board may have changed since. He walks you from the Resort Deck, the Retreat and the spa down through Eden, the Grand Plaza and the four main restaurants, all the way to Camp at Sea and the tender platform. Celebrity Edge Highlights

Resort Deck on Celebrity Edge

Resort Deck

Because Edge was designed in 3D, her supports were moved to open the Resort Deck to wide, unobstructed sea views. The main pool is big enough for laps, with a shallow edge where loungers sit right in the water. Two champagne-glass hot tubs perch above the deck, and a split walking and jogging track loops two decks in a figure eight, running through the Rooftop Garden. Private cabanas (extra cost) and the Mast Grill sit close by.

Danny's tip: “I usually come up after a nice dinner for a stroll on the track. I love that one side is for walking and the other is for jogging.”

Magic Carpet

The Magic Carpet is a cantilevered platform that rides up and down the side of the ship, and Edge was the first ship to have one. Up top it’s a bar with lounge seating and big ocean views. On Deck 5 it becomes an open-air extension of Raw on 5 for dinner. On tender days it drops to the waterline, and guests wait in a large air-conditioned space before stepping onto more comfortable, air-conditioned tenders.

Danny's tip: “For me, the real game changer is tender days. The Magic Carpet drops right to the water, so there's no climbing up and down cramped stairs to get on the boat.”

Rooftop Garden & Sunset Bar on Celebrity Edge

Rooftop Garden & Sunset Bar

The Rooftop Garden is filled with live plants, butterfly sculptures and quiet nooks, with a stage and a big screen for movies and parties under the stars. In one corner, the Rooftop Garden Grill serves backyard barbecue with an international twist (extra cost). Just aft, the Sunset Bar wraps the back of the ship with seating that faces the wake, plus a separate open-air smoking area. It’s the spot for sail away.

Danny's tip: “One of my favorite seats on the entire ship is the tall throne chairs at the Sunset Bar, looking out over the wake. They're big enough even for somebody my size.”

The Retreat

The Retreat is Celebrity’s ship-within-a-ship for guests in Sky Suites and above. The Retreat Sundeck has daybeds, cabanas, a pool with hanging bird’s-nest loungers, a hot tub and its own bar and lunch restaurant, with food and drinks included. The Retreat Lounge offers breakfast, afternoon tea and evening bites, plus a concierge team. Luminae serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with signature dishes from Daniel Boulud. Edge Villa guests can step straight onto the sundeck.

Danny's tip: “The rocking chairs up front on the Retreat Sundeck are one of my favorite spots on the whole ship. It feels like sitting on your own front porch at home.”

The Spa & Thermal Suite on Celebrity Edge

The Spa & Thermal Suite

Edge’s spa covers massages, facials, a Medi-Spa, acupuncture, a salon and a barber shop. The thermal suite at the front of the ship has heated loungers facing the sea, a float room, a large infrared sauna, a crystal room, a Himalayan salt room, an experience shower, an aroma steam room and a hammam. Access is included for AquaClass and Aqua Sky Suite guests, and anyone else can buy a pass. Next door, the adults-only Solarium has an indoor pool and Spa Cafe.

Danny's tip: “The heated loungers in the thermal suite are where you'll find me quite often. I've had back issues for years, and they're so soothing. My all-time favorite treatment is the hot stone massage.”

Eden

Eden spans three decks at the back of the ship, wrapped in glass and filled with living plants. Celebrity calls it a room that lives. Mornings bring coffee, days bring activities and gatherings, and evenings turn it into a playful lounge with a bar, piano and dance floor. Eden Café serves soups, sandwiches and coffee, and Eden Restaurant (extra cost) offers creative dishes and tasting menus from an open kitchen. A catwalk circles the glass overhead.

Danny's tip: “My favorite hideaway is the upper level of Eden on the port side. There's usually nobody there, and I love to tuck away with a book and a cup of coffee.”

Grand Plaza & Specialty Dining on Celebrity Edge

Grand Plaza & Specialty Dining

The Grand Plaza is the heart of Edge, a three-deck space with the Martini Bar at its center, where bartenders put on flair shows. It hosts coffee in the morning, live music and dancing at night. Around it sit Café al Bacio, Le Grand Bistro, Fine Cut Steakhouse for prime cuts and seafood, and Raw on 5, with sushi, sashimi, a raw bar and a signature lobster roll. Specialty restaurants are an extra cost.

Danny's tip: “Raw on 5 gave me one of the best seafood experiences of my life. I've dined there three times on this cruise, and the lobster roll is fantastic.”

Four Main Restaurants

Instead of one big dining room, Edge has four complimentary main restaurants: Tuscan (Italian), Normandie (contemporary French), Cyprus (Mediterranean) and Cosmopolitan (New American, with a walk-through wine display). They share a classic menu and a rotating menu that changes nightly, and each adds its own signature dishes. You choose early, late or flexible Celebrity Select Dining. The Oceanview Café adds a casual buffet with a bakery, pizza and rotating global stations.

Danny's tip: “I always start with the shrimp cocktail. It's on the menu every single night.”

Edge Villas

Six two-story villas, each with a plunge pool on its terrace. From the upper level, guests can step straight out onto the Retreat Sundeck. Danny filmed a full Edge Villa tour you can watch in the Rooms section.

Le Petit Chef

At dinner, Le Grand Bistro closes its doors and becomes Le Petit Chef. Projectors turn each table into a stage, and tiny animated chefs prepare your meal before the real course arrives. Fun for every member of the family.

The Theatre

The stage pushes out into the audience, and projection screens wrap the whole room, so sets can turn into almost anything. Production shows, comedians and guest lecturers keep it busy night after night.
