Crystal Serenity

Crystal’s larger ocean ship now carries just 740 guests after her 2023 relaunch, with butler service in every room, Umi Uma by Nobu and an ultra all-inclusive fare. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

More Space, Same Crystal Service

Crystal Serenity entered service in 2003 and returned in 2023 under A&K Travel Group after a major refurbishment. Capacity dropped to 740 guests, far fewer than when she was built, thanks to bigger suites and redesigned rooms. Danny first sailed her with his grandparents, and he says much of the original crew is back. Fine wines, premium spirits, gratuities and almost all dining are included, and shore excursions are curated with sister brand Abercrombie & Kent.

Serenity sails shorter voyages, longer Grand Voyages and the World Cruise, and Danny notes the long sailings sell out quickly. He walks you from the Seahorse Pool and the Palm Court up top, through the Aurōra Spa, the Atrium, Waterside, Umi Uma and Osteria d’Ovidio, to the Promenade Deck and the Galaxy Lounge. Watch the full tour below, or jump straight to the part of the ship you care about most.

Crystal Serenity Highlights

Seahorse Pool & Trident Grill on Crystal Serenity

Seahorse Pool & Trident Grill

The Seahorse Pool is the heart of Serenity's top deck, with a pool large enough for morning laps, two whirlpools and a bandstand for live music at sail away. Loungers, tables and chairs wrap all the way around, with drink service throughout. Just inside, the Trident Grill serves a late riser's breakfast and made-to-order burgers, melts and salads into the afternoon, and Scoops Gelato Bar serves Badiani gelato from Florence.

Danny's tip: “I like that the pool is big enough for laps in the morning. And if you love ice cream like I do, stop by at least once, twice, maybe three times a day.”

Palm Court

Perched all the way forward at the top of the ship, the Palm Court is a bright observation lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping forward views. Afternoon tea is served here with live piano music, and the dance floor and bandstand come alive later in the evening. There's seating at the bar and tables for two and four, plus a small outdoor deck for photos when the ship sails through Alaska or the Norwegian fjords.

Danny's tip: “Afternoon tea is a tradition I love. I remember going with my grandmother when I was young, and we keep that tradition alive. It's also my wife's favorite spot for sewing because of all the natural light.”

Marketplace & Aft Terrace on Crystal Serenity

Marketplace & Aft Terrace

The Marketplace is the casual buffet for breakfast and lunch, with a salad bar, hot entrées, made-to-order eggs at breakfast, a rotisserie and plenty of seating along the windows. Step outside to the aft terrace to dine al fresco with the sea right behind you. Serenity has no aft-facing staterooms, so the decks below step down with guest space, daybeds and wake views on every level.

Danny's tip: “My favorite place to dine on the ship is the aft terrace. I always start my day with the fresh-squeezed orange juice, and those wake views make my blood pressure go down.”

Umi Uma & Sushi Bar

Umi Uma & Sushi Bar is Crystal's restaurant by chef Nobu Matsuhisa, and Crystal says it's the only Nobu restaurant at sea. The Japanese-Peruvian menu runs from soups, salads and appetizers to entrées like wagyu and black cod, with a full sushi bar and window tables for two. Dining is included, with a set number of reservations per sailing based on voyage length. Guests in the penthouse suites can dine here without limit.

Danny's tip: “When guests ask me my favorite restaurant at sea, this is it. The wagyu is amazing, my wife's favorite is the black cod, and my favorite is the entire menu.”

Osteria d'Ovidio on Crystal Serenity

Osteria d'Ovidio

Osteria d'Ovidio is Serenity's Italian restaurant, named for Crystal's owner, Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio, with a menu created in collaboration with the Michelin-rated Alajmo brothers. Expect handmade pastas, classic appetizers and creative entrées, served at tables for two and four, in booths and along the windows. Like Umi Uma, it's included, with a set number of reservations per sailing. Danny counts it among his favorite restaurants anywhere in the cruise industry.

Danny's tip: “This is one of my other favorite restaurants in the industry, and you'll see why as soon as you dine.”

Waterside & The Bistro

Waterside is the main dining room, with a daily changing menu of classic and contemporary dishes served à la carte. Since the refurbishment cut capacity to 740 guests, there's a seat for everyone whenever they want one, at tables for two, four or up to ten along the windows. Nearby, The Bistro is the ship's café, with specialty coffees, teas and light bites throughout the day, made by some of the best baristas in the business.

Danny's tip: “You can actually dine from the Waterside menu right in your room. Your butler takes care of it.”

Aurōra Spa & Fitness on Crystal Serenity

Aurōra Spa & Fitness

The Aurōra Spa offers massages, facials, wraps and medi-spa treatments, along with acupuncture, a full-service salon, a barber, and manicure and pedicure stations. The steam room and sauna are complimentary for all guests. The nearly 3,000-square-foot fitness center has Technogym equipment, treadmills facing the ocean, free weights and spin bikes, with yoga, Pilates and spin classes plus personal training sessions available.

Danny's tip: “As someone who's had back pain for a long time, I use the acupuncture all the time. My favorite massage is aromatherapy with hot stones, and my favorite day is a spa day at sea.”

Promenade Deck & Sports

One of Serenity's signatures is a teak Promenade Deck that wraps all the way around the ship, something few ships still offer. It's the place for a morning walk or jog, or fresh ocean air on a sea day. Up top, two Wimbledon courts host pickleball and padel tennis, plus yoga and stretch classes. All the way aft on Deck 6 are golf driving nets, a putting surface and table tennis.

Danny's tip: “It's the perfect place for a walk or jog in the morning. I have so many memories walking around this deck with different members of my family.”
