Disney Wonder

Disney Cruise Line’s classic ocean liner pairs Art Nouveau style with rotational dining at Tiana’s Place, Broadway-style shows like Frozen, and kids clubs that fill most of a deck. We’ve walked the decks, so you can see the ship before you book.

A Classic Ocean Liner with Disney Magic

Disney Wonder entered service in August 1999 as Disney Cruise Line’s second ship, and she was designed to look like a steamship from the golden age of ocean travel. Her black hull, white superstructure, red funnels and yellow accents are Mickey Mouse’s colors, and one of her two funnels is purely for show: it houses the Vibe teen club. Inside, Art Nouveau details meet Disney’s signature rotational dining at Triton’s, Tiana’s Place and Animator’s Palate.

Danny filmed this tour on an Alaska sailing in 2019, traveling with his young daughter, so he sees the ship through a parent’s eyes. A few spaces have been updated since, and this page uses their current names. He walks you from the Wide World of Sports deck and the pools, through the kids clubs and the Walt Disney Theatre, to the dining rooms and the adults-only After Hours district. Disney Wonder Highlights

Quiet Cove & Cove Café on Disney Wonder

Quiet Cove & Cove Café

Quiet Cove is the adults-only pool area, with its own pool, two whirlpool spas, thickly padded loungers and the Signals pool bar. Right beside it is Cove Café, an adults-only coffee shop and lounge with espresso drinks, specialty coffees, comfy seating and big windows. Danny says you can feel the difference right away: the adults pool stays calm while the family pool is busy with kids. Covered areas nearby help in tropical sun or Alaska drizzle.

Danny's tip: “Cove Café is where I start all my mornings on board. They always have warm croissants, and I recommend the chocolate coffee experience.”

Goofy’s Pool & Deck Parties

Goofy’s Pool is the family pool and the center of the action on deck. When there’s a party, the deck chairs disappear and a retractable dance floor covers the pool, doubling the space for sail-away celebrations, character appearances and deck parties. Select sailings add fireworks at sea, and Alaska sailings get a Frozen deck party. Above it all, the 24-foot-wide Funnel Vision screen shows Disney movies day and night. Lifeguards are on duty whenever the pools are open.

Danny's tip: “Life jackets for the little ones are right at the pool. Just ask, or grab one and use it right away.”

AquaLab on Disney Wonder

AquaLab

Toward the back of the pool deck, the AquaLab is the ship’s third pool area, a water playground themed to Huey, Dewey and Louie’s wacky inventions. It’s packed with geysers, leaky pipes and buckets that fill up and dump out, plus a kids’ pool. Older kids climb the stairway to the Twist ‘n’ Spout water slide. For the youngest cruisers, ages 3 and under, Dory’s Reef has fountains, bubblers and pop jets made just for them, right next door.

Danny's tip: “Kids have to be at least 38 inches tall to ride the slide, so keep that in mind for your little ones.”

Palo

Palo is the adults-only (18+) specialty restaurant, set high on deck 10 at the back of the ship with glass on all sides and some of the best views on board. It serves Northern Italian cooking with a modern twist, from pizza out of genuine pizza ovens to Dover sole filleted tableside. Venetian masks and blown-glass chandeliers set the tone, and there’s an open kitchen, an espresso bar and a private dining room for celebrations. It carries an extra charge.

Danny's tip: “Reservations are required, so I get those right away. Check the dress code, too. Disney is a little more flexible than most cruise lines, but follow it.”

Disney's Oceaneer Club & Lab on Disney Wonder

Disney’s Oceaneer Club & Lab

Deck 5 is essentially the kids’ deck, and Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab take up most of it. Today both are for ages 3 to 10. The Club is character-driven, with Andy’s Room from Toy Story and Marvel Super Hero Academy, while the connected Lab is more hands-on, with crafts and activities. Edge serves tweens 11 to 14 and Vibe serves teens 14 to 17, and the “it’s a small world” nursery welcomes little ones from 6 months.

Danny's tip: “Andy's Room is my daughter's favorite spot on the entire ship. She's gone down that Slinky Dog slide a million times.”

Walt Disney Theatre

The Walt Disney Theatre spans three decks and seats close to a thousand guests for Broadway-style shows, all included in the fare. The current lineup is Frozen, A Musical Spectacular, Disney Dreams – An Enchanted Classic and The Golden Mickeys. Expect top-of-the-line sound and special effects, plus the costumes and storytelling Disney is known for. First-run movies sometimes play here too, alongside the 278-seat Buena Vista Theatre on deck 5. It’s one of Danny’s favorite parts of a Disney cruise.

Danny's tip: “I get there 20 minutes to a half hour before the show, since doors open a half hour early. Grab a kids' booster seat on the way in.”

Animator's Palate on Disney Wonder

Animator’s Palate

Animator’s Palate is one of the three rotational dining rooms, and Danny calls it the most fun and most interactive. The room starts out in black-and-white sketches that come to life in full color as dinner goes on, served with a fusion of Pacific Rim and California cuisine. On a longer sailing, a second visit lets guests draw their own character, which is scanned and becomes part of the show. The room also hosts character breakfasts that need a reservation.

Danny's tip: “Character breakfasts and gatherings need to be booked ahead. I booked my cruise last second, went first thing when I boarded, and still got them.”

After Hours

After Hours is the ship’s adults-only district for the evening, with three distinct venues. Azure is the nightclub, with 18-plus variety shows, karaoke and DJs. The Cadillac Lounge is a 1950s-style piano bar where the bar is the front end of a Cadillac and the drink tables are hubcaps. The Crown & Fin Pub is a British-inspired pub and sports bar with big sofas, board games, a dartboard, a red telephone booth and ocean views.

Danny's tip: “The Crown & Fin is one of my favorite places to sit anywhere on the ship, with big, comfy sofas and beautiful views.”

Signature Experiences on Wonder

Tiana's Place

A New Orleans-themed rotational restaurant with live jazz, Mardi Gras touches and Louisiana-style cuisine inspired by The Princess and the Frog. Tiana greets guests and visits the tables, and Danny's favorite treat, the beignets, comes on the second night.

▶ See it · 51:39

Triton's

The largest of the rotational dining rooms, inspired by King Triton's sea palace from The Little Mermaid, with stained glass and continental cuisine with a French flair. It also hosts brunch on select mornings.

▶ See it · 59:55

The Promenade Deck

Deck 4 wraps all the way around the ship like a classic ocean liner, a 400-yard track for a morning walk or jog. Thick, padded loungers make it a favorite spot for scenic cruising and glacier views.
