Eurodam

Holland America’s first Signature Class ship pairs Dutch heritage with a glass-roofed Lido Pool, a teak promenade that wraps all the way around and live music every night. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

A Classic Ship Built for Longer Voyages

Eurodam joined the fleet in July 2008 as the first Signature Class ship, and Nieuw Amsterdam followed as her sister. She was christened in Rotterdam by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and was the 80th ship to sail for Holland America. The line’s Dutch heritage shows up everywhere, from Delft china and a ship model in the dining room to Dutch art throughout. A glass Magradome covers the Lido Pool, so the deck works in Alaska or the tropics.

Danny calls her the perfect ship for long cruises, with a big spa, a quiet Crow’s Nest and plenty of room to spread out. Since the tour was filmed, B.B. King’s has become the Rolling Stone Lounge and Morimoto By Sea has joined the specialty restaurants. Watch the full tour below, or jump straight to the part of the ship you care about most.

Eurodam Highlights

The Retreat on Eurodam

The Retreat

The Retreat is a private cabana area at the very top of the ship. Guests rent a cabana for a day or for the whole cruise, with a specialty breakfast and lunch menu, snacks, bar service and cabana stewards who bring whatever is needed. The larger corner cabanas fit two to four people and catch a breeze, while the smaller ones have two loungers, privacy curtains and a table. A sun deck sits just above.

Danny's tip: “Whether you book it for a day or the entire cruise, I think it could be worth it for you if you really like that extra private space outdoors.”

Lido Market

The Lido Market is the ship's complimentary casual dining spot, with window seating in tables for two up to eight. An Asian station serves dishes like Thai food and sushi most days. Hot stations change daily, sandwiches come ready to grab or made to order, and a large salad bar tosses any salad guests like. Coffee, tea and lemonade stations sit at both ends, and the dessert and ice cream station gets plenty of attention.

Danny's tip: “This is the most important part of the buffet and it's not even close. Sometimes I come here between meals just so I can enjoy an ice cream cone.”

Sea View Pool on Eurodam

Sea View Pool

All the way aft, past the Sea View Bar, the Sea View Pool is an adults-only space with tables for dining outside, loungers and a pool guests can sit beside with their feet in the water. Behind the pool is a big open deck that fills with loungers in the tropics and hosts receptions and themed parties on other nights. Extra shade structures were added, and the bartender has some of the best views on board.

Danny's tip: “The ship was on its way to Hawaii, and I can imagine cruising the islands sitting right there with a drink in my hand and my feet in the water.”

Lido Pool & Dive-In

The Lido Pool sits under the Magradome, a retractable glass roof that slides open on sunny days and closes in cold weather, which makes it ideal for Alaska. Hot tubs, padded loungers and a giant mister surround the pool, and ping pong tables are close by. The Lido Bar is a social hub, and the Dive-In serves complimentary burgers, hot dogs and fries cooked on a full grill, with its own signature sauce.

Danny's tip: “The Dive-In kind of blew my mind on my last cruise. The fries were absolutely to die for, and the Dive-In sauce is right up there with my all-time favorites.”

Greenhouse Spa & Thermal Suite on Eurodam

Greenhouse Spa & Thermal Suite

The Greenhouse Spa offers massages, a full salon and barber chair with ocean views, couples treatment rooms and a relaxation room for before and after treatments. The Elemis seaweed wrap on a dry float bed is the most popular treatment, and it books up fast. The Thermal Suite is a paid pass, with a hydrotherapy pool full of bubbles and jets, three steam rooms and heated stone loungers facing the sea.

Danny's tip: “I'd think about getting a full cruise pass. With my bad back, the heated stone loungers are pure heaven, and I've sat many an hour on them on my cruises.”

Crow's Nest

The Crow's Nest sits at the very top front of the ship. Comfy seats and couches face big forward windows, and a screen shows what the captain sees, from arrival times to wind and sailing speed. The space includes a library and board games, and the coffee shop added during the renovation turns into a bar for happy hour. Returning Mariners gather here for their welcome reception on embarkation day.

Danny's tip: “A nice comfy seat, a book in your hand and a cup of coffee, or maybe a martini in the evening. To me, this is absolutely what Holland America is all about.”

Neptune Lounge on Eurodam

Neptune Lounge

The Neptune Lounge is a private space for guests in Neptune and Pinnacle Suites. A concierge handles reservations on board and on land, and snacks, desserts, coffee, teas and juices are set out through the day. The lounge got a full makeover during the renovation, with couches, love seats, a large table, games and puzzles. It works as a quiet place to read by day and a social spot in the evening.

Danny's tip: “I love coming in here in the morning. When I cruised in the Neptune Suite, I'd have a nice coffee here, relax and meet a wonderful group of people.”

Pinnacle Grill

Pinnacle Grill has been Holland America's signature steakhouse from the very beginning, serving fine cuts of beef and seafood with an award-winning wine list. Tables by the windows, booths and settings from two to ten people fill the room. Across the way, the Pinnacle Bar is a gathering spot for a drink before dinner. Specialty dining carries an extra charge, though some fares and packages include a specialty night.

Danny's tip: “The best steakhouse experience I've ever had on a cruise ship was a Pinnacle Grill dinner I had with my wife. They don't have a ton of specialty restaurants, but they do the ones they have really well.”

Signature Experiences on Eurodam

Glass Elevators

Glass elevator banks on both sides of the ship keep the ocean in view as guests ride between decks. Danny points out how much that matters on an Alaska cruise, when nobody wants to miss the scenery.

Billboard Onboard

When filmed, Billboard Onboard had dueling pianos every night, playing hits from the last 50 years and taking requests. Holland America now bills it as the biggest sing-along at sea, with music trivia too.

▶ See it · 33:39

The Wraparound Promenade

Deck 3 has a classic teak promenade that goes all the way around the ship, lined with padded loungers. Danny loves it for sail-aways, a book on a sea day and spotting wildlife and glaciers.
