Koningsdam

Holland America’s first Pinnacle Class ship pairs classic Dutch elegance with the Music Walk, the high-tech World Stage and a deep lineup of specialty restaurants. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

A Ship Built Around Music and Food

Koningsdam launched the Pinnacle Class in 2016. Her name comes from koning, the Dutch word for king, honoring King Willem-Alexander. Queen Máxima of the Netherlands is her godmother. Holland America designed her around the things its guests love most: good food, live music and gracious service. The Lido Pool sits under a retractable glass roof, the World Stage wraps the audience in LED screens, and the Music Walk fills Deck 2 with live bands every night.

Danny calls her a beautiful ship from top to bottom, and he especially loves the live music. A March 2026 dry dock added larger ocean-view staterooms for families, refreshed the music venues and expanded the casino. Koningsdam Highlights

Lido Pool & Magradome on Koningsdam

Lido Pool & Magradome

Holland America’s signature Magradome is a retractable glass roof, and on Koningsdam it’s larger than on older ships, so the Lido feels like an open deck when it’s pulled back. Below are the Lido Pool and three hot tubs, with a big LED screen for movies and evening dance parties. The upper level has day beds and couches. New York Deli & Pizza and the Dive-In burger grill are steps away, both complimentary.

Danny's tip: “My favorite is the breakfast bagel at the pizzeria, and I always get the Reuben during the day.”

The Retreat

The Retreat is a private cabana area on the top deck that guests in any stateroom category can rent for a day or for the whole cruise. Cabanas come in two sizes, with day beds or loungers, robes and slippers, a private dining table and dedicated service. Guests can order from casual menus and dine right in the cabana. Corner cabanas look out both sides, which Danny pictures for glacier days in Alaska.

Danny's tip: “You don't need a suite for this. Even in an inside cabin, you can add a cabana and have your own private outdoor space every day.”

The Retreat on Koningsdam
Crow's Nest on Koningsdam

Crow’s Nest

The Crow’s Nest is one of Holland America’s most iconic spaces, a horseshoe-shaped lounge at the top front of the ship. Big windows frame the view ahead, with day beds, winding couches and tables for two and four. The Crow’s Nest Café serves coffee, teas and pastries, there’s a full bar, and board games, puzzles and a library are close by. It’s also a popular spot for group get-togethers.

Danny's tip: “My wife and I have created so many memories in this space over the years, playing games, doing puzzles and meeting new people.”

Lido Market

The Lido Market blends a food hall with a classic buffet, and it’s complimentary. Stations cover comfort-food classics, made-to-order sandwiches and paninis, build-your-own salads, carved meats like prime rib, Asian dishes with a make-your-own stir-fry, and a bakery with Holland America’s famous bread pudding. A bar serves beer, wine and cocktails, and coffee and tea are available all day. Booths and tables line the windows.

Danny's tip: “I always end with dessert, and for me it's all about the crêpe station. I'd have a fresh crêpe just about any time of day.”

Sea View Pool on Koningsdam

Sea View Pool

Aft of the Lido Market, the Sea View Pool is one of Holland America’s signatures and is now an adults-only space. The pool is deep, and there are two hot tubs, a bar with ocean views, and loungers and tables along both sides. Just above, glass-floored platforms reach out over the water. All the way aft, open viewing areas make this a great spot for scenic cruising in Alaska or Hawaii.

Danny's tip: “The pool is about six foot eight deep, so even I can get fully submerged.”

Tamarind & Sushi

Tamarind is Danny’s favorite specialty restaurant on Koningsdam, serving Pan-Asian dishes from Southeast Asia, China and Japan. Next to it, the sushi bar became Morimoto By Sea Sushi in 2025, with a menu by Chef Masaharu Morimoto, offered for a surcharge. Booths and window tables run through the space, and the Tamarind Bar has lounge seating, signature cocktails and a wide selection of sake. Danny loves sitting at the sushi counter and watching the chefs work.

Danny's tip: “The sushi bar is my second home. You'll find me there every single day, and at the Tamarind Bar my pick is the sake.”

Greenhouse Spa & Thermal Suite on Koningsdam

Greenhouse Spa & Thermal Suite

The Greenhouse Spa offers massages, facials, a barber shop, a salon, acupuncture and medi-spa treatments. The Thermal Suite has heated stone loungers, a horizontal shower, an infrared sauna, aromatherapy and steam rooms, and a large hydrotherapy pool. Guests in spa staterooms and suites get access included. Everyone else can buy a day or cruise pass. Next door, the fitness center wraps around the front of the ship with ocean views.

Danny's tip: “Book your treatments early, especially for sea days. Thermal Suite passes go quickly, so I always buy mine right away.”

The Music Walk

The Music Walk on Deck 2 is Holland America’s live-music heart. B.B. King’s Blues Club brings Memphis-style rhythm and blues with a full band and a big dance floor. Billboard Onboard is a piano bar with sing-alongs, music trivia and all-request nights. The Rolling Stone Lounge has replaced the Rock Room since the tour was filmed, and a March 2026 refresh added seating that connects it with Billboard Onboard.

Danny's tip: “I love that you can mix and match. I start the night at B.B. King's, then head over to the piano bar for my favorite hits.”
