Norwegian Encore

Norwegian’s Breakaway Plus Class fan favorite has go-karts on the top deck, the Galaxy Pavilion, The Haven, and fresh additions like Spice H2O and Palomar from her late-2024 refresh. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

Built for Alaska, Refreshed for Today

Norwegian Encore entered service in November 2019 as the fourth and final ship of the Breakaway Plus Class, and she is one of the largest ships in Norwegian’s fleet. She was designed with Alaska in mind, with a forward Observation Lounge and the outdoor Waterfront built for scenery. A two-week dry dock in late 2024 added the adults-only Spice H2O and Palomar, expanded Cagney’s and Teppanyaki, redesigned suites in The Haven and created new balcony staterooms.

Danny calls The Haven on Encore his home away from home, and he filmed this tour in early 2025, just after the refresh. He walks you from the pool deck, the Speedway and The Haven down through the Waterfront, the theater and the kids’ clubs on Deck 5. Norwegian Encore Highlights

Encore Speedway on Norwegian Encore

Encore Speedway

Norwegian pioneered go-karts at sea, and Danny thinks the line perfected them on Encore. The Encore Speedway runs across the top of the ship, with loops and backtracks that climb up and down over several decks. You can drive a single kart or a double, which is great with little ones. Every lap is timed, and the fastest lap wins. It costs extra, per ride or with a package, and a viewing area up top lets friends cheer you on.

Danny's tip: “The secret is that you're really racing against yourself. Sometimes I hold back a little, let some room open up in front of me, and then I go all in.”

Pool Deck & Water Slides

The main pool deck has two large pools, one geared to families and one for adults, with loungers all around, bars on both sides and a big LED screen for games and movies. One level up are the walking track, hot tubs and two complimentary slides: a tube slide for one or two riders and the Ocean Loops drop slide, which swings out over the side of the ship. Little ones get their own Kids’ Aqua Park. Vibe Beach Club is an extra-cost, adults-only retreat.

Danny's tip: “My kids and I absolutely love the water slides. On our last cruise we rode the tube slide together a few dozen times.”

The Haven on Norwegian Encore

The Haven

The Haven is Norwegian’s ship-within-a-ship for suite guests. A concierge handles show and dining reservations and escorts guests on and off the ship. Danny calls the Haven Lounge his bit of Cheers, where the bartenders know your name. The Haven Courtyard has a pool, hot tub and daybeds under a retractable glass roof, and the Haven Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, indoors or out. Up top are the Horizon Lounge, with complimentary snacks and espresso, and the Haven Sun Deck.

Danny's tip: “The smoked old fashioned at the Haven bar is one of my all-time favorites, and I start every morning in the Haven Restaurant with the avocado toast and a poached egg.”

Galaxy Pavilion

Galaxy Pavilion is a high-tech virtual reality center, an idea that debuted on Norwegian Joy. It’s packed with VR rides, including a Jurassic-style adventure, a finger coaster, car simulators, a full Formula 1 racer, hang gliders, The Descent and a VR maze. The dark ride is billed as seven-dimensional, and you can try to beat the Robo goalie. Two VR escape rooms give your group 45 minutes to solve the puzzle. It costs extra, pay as you play or with a package.

Danny's tip: “The one I think everyone should start with is walking the plank. And get your family or friends together for the escape room. See if you can solve it quicker than I did.”

Mandara Spa & Thermal Suite on Norwegian Encore

Mandara Spa & Thermal Suite

Danny calls the Mandara Spa one of the best in the industry. There’s a barber shop, a full beauty salon, IV therapy, and manicure and pedicure stations, plus massages, facials, wraps and a quartz bed treatment. The Thermal Suite is the big draw for spa lovers, with heated stone loungers facing the sea, a hydrotherapy pool, a steam room, a salt room, a snow room, a Finnish sauna and a sanarium. Thermal Suite access is a separate day or cruise-long pass.

Danny's tip: “I always stop by the spa on the first day to learn about everything they offer, and in port they often have specials. After the long trip to the ship, I go for a deep tissue or bamboo massage.”

Observation Lounge

Encore was built with Alaska in mind, and the Observation Lounge shows it. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap around the front of the ship, with chaise loungers and chairs with ottomans facing forward. There’s a bar and a coffee bar, live piano music from late afternoon into the evening, and complimentary light bites from a continental breakfast through dinner. In the 2024 dry dock, part of the lounge became new balcony staterooms, but the forward-facing section remains.

Danny's tip: “This is one of my favorite spots in the morning for light bites, and a lot of people don't even realize the food is here. If you're cruising somewhere scenic, there's no better spot.”

The Waterfront on Norwegian Encore

The Waterfront

The Waterfront, an idea that debuted on Norwegian Breakaway, wraps Deck 8 with outdoor bars, lounges and restaurant seating, with heaters for Alaska. Along it you’ll find the Sugarcane Mojito Bar with live music every evening, the Cavern Club and its Beatles tribute band, Maltings Whiskey Bar next to the Humidor, The Cellars wine bar, Food Republic, Onda by Scarpetta for handmade pasta, and an expanded Cagney’s Steakhouse that now stretches across the aft.

Danny's tip: “There's nothing better than dining al fresco. I love a delicious Italian meal and a glass of Italian wine outside at Onda as we sail.”

Encore Theater & Nightlife

The Encore Theater is a large venue with LED screens on either side of the stage and a strong sound system. The headline show is The Choir of Man, a sing-along night of songs you know, sung by incredible voices. The theater also hosts a Beatles show and guest entertainers. After dark, the Social Comedy & Night Club runs family-friendly and adults-only comedy before turning into a nightclub, and the casino has a smoke-free area.

Danny's tip: “The Choir of Man is my favorite show in the entire cruise industry. The shows are included in your fare, but pre-book, because they do fill up.”

New on Encore Since Her 2024 Refresh

Spice H2O

A complimentary, adults-only retreat at the aft of the ship, added in the late-2024 dry dock where the laser tag arena used to be. It has hot tubs, a full bar, daybeds ringed by water, and loungers under awnings and umbrellas.

▶ See it · 9:56

Palomar

The seafood-forward Mediterranean restaurant that debuted on Norwegian Prima replaced Ocean Blue on Encore. It's a smaller, higher-end venue with tableside fish service, steaks and lamb chops, plus outdoor seating on the Waterfront. Danny's advice: pre-book.

▶ See it · 29:28

A Bigger Teppanyaki

Encore's Teppanyaki grew in the recent dry dock to 16 tables, where competitors usually have four to six. It's dinner and a show, with chefs who keep you laughing. Haven and Club Balcony Suite guests get earlier access to book.
