Small-Ship Elegance, Big on Cuisine

Oceania Insignia is one of the line’s four Regatta-class ships, built in 1998 with 340 suites and staterooms. Her size lets her reach smaller ports, and she is a favorite for longer voyages. Insignia keeps the Oceania favorites, with Polo Grill and Toscana included in the fare, plus the Terrace Café, Waves Grill and the Grand Dining Room. Specialty coffees, sodas, bottled water and fresh-squeezed juices are part of the experience too.

Danny calls Oceania a product that knows what its guests love: the finest cuisine at sea, world-class service and small touches like upgraded linens and pillows. He filmed Insignia from the pool deck and sports deck to Horizons, the library, the spa, the lounges and the grand staircase. Oceania Insignia Highlights

Pool Deck & Waves Grill on Oceania Insignia

Pool Deck & Waves Grill

Insignia's main pool sits at the heart of the ship, with two hot tubs, a shallow area to sit and cool off, and day beds and loungers in both sun and shade. The pool bar keeps drinks coming. Waves Grill takes the pool grill to the next level, with Wagyu and surf and turf burgers, Cubans and Reubens, seafood, a salad bar, fresh juices, milkshakes and gelato. Order, grab a seat and they bring it to you.

Danny's tip: “Waves Grill is a spot I absolutely love and come back to time and time again, whether it's for fresh juice in the morning or a milkshake.”

Terrace Café

The Terrace Café is Insignia's casual buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a full coffee bar and a full bar. A pizza station turns out fresh pies every day and becomes a made-to-order egg station in the morning. The menu rotates daily, with carved meats, seafood, pasta made to order and the falafel power bowl, plus sandwiches, salads and a dessert bar with ice cream, gelato and sorbet.

Danny's tip: “My favorite spot on board to dine is all the way aft on the Terrace Café's outdoor veranda. I love coming up for a coffee in the morning before breakfast.”

Sports Deck & Walking Track on Oceania Insignia

Sports Deck & Walking Track

One level above the pool, a walking track loops all the way around the ship, a good place for a sunrise walk, some yoga or a stroll after dinner. All the way forward on the sun deck, loungers share space with classic outdoor games, including shuffleboard, cornhole and a putting green. Insignia and the Oceania fleet visit some of the best golf destinations in the world, so golfers can keep their game sharp between ports.

Danny's tip: “If you're a golfer, come up to the putting green and work on your game, or just have some fun with friends.”

Horizons

Perched all the way forward at the top of the ship like a crown, Horizons is a true observation lounge, with floor-to-ceiling windows wrapping around for views off the bow and sides. A full bar sits at the back, and a bandstand and dance floor in the middle bring live music. Horizons also works well for group gatherings, and the Artist Loft tucked in the corner offers art classes and activities.

Danny's tip: “My favorite thing up here is high tea. They generally do it every afternoon, the traditional English tea service with beautiful views and delicious food.”

Library & Card Room on Oceania Insignia

Library & Card Room

Insignia has a traditional library with real books, a curated collection plus a book exchange, with shelves wrapping around the room, comfy seating and a faux fireplace. Daily sudoku and games sit around the corner. Nearby, the card room is busy on longer cruises, with a sign-up sheet for games, plenty of board games and a communal puzzle almost always in progress. Oceania@Sea next door offers computers and help with the included Starlink internet.

Danny's tip: “Some of my favorite books I've ever found have been on a cruise ship. You're in a different place and mood, and you might get a suggestion from another guest or a crew member.”

Polo Grill

Polo Grill is the original Oceania specialty restaurant, a classic over-the-top steakhouse that will feel familiar to anyone who loves a steakhouse on land. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of steaks, seafood, appetizers, soups and salads, and there is a full bar inside the restaurant plus an extensive wine list. Like all of Oceania's specialty restaurants, it is included in the fare, with reservation priority based on category.

Danny's tip: “For me, it's always about the ribeye. It's nice and juicy, tender and flavorful. My only complaint is that the menu is so extensive you have to come back several times to taste everything.”

Toscana on Oceania Insignia

Toscana

Toscana is Insignia's specialty Italian restaurant, included in the fare like Polo Grill, with reservation priority based on the category booked. Expect antipasti, handmade pastas and main courses that include steaks and seafood, served in an elegant, intimate room. With a menu this broad, many guests plan more than one visit on longer sailings, and Harr Travel advisors can help pre-book reservations as soon as a category's booking window opens.

Danny's tip: “We always recommend Toscana. I love it, and who doesn't love Italian food? Just like Polo Grill, the menu is so extensive you have to come back several times to try it all.”

Grand Dining Room & Grand Staircase

The Grand Dining Room serves plated, take-your-time à la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it also hosts brunch and special holiday dinners that lean into the season. Just outside, the grand staircase shows off the elegant beauty of this class of ship and makes a natural photo spot. Below it, the reception desk, executive concierge and destination services desk sit in a spacious lobby where guests gather before heading ashore.

Danny's tip: “We always recommend that you pre-book your excursions because they do fill up, and we don't want you to be disappointed on board. We can also arrange private excursions for you.”
