The First Allura Class Ship, a Decade in the Making

Oceania Vista entered service in 2023 as the first of Oceania’s Allura Class ships, and she was christened in Valletta, Malta, with chef Giada De Laurentiis as her godmother. She carries about 1,200 guests, and every suite and stateroom has a veranda. Vista keeps the Oceania favorites, including Polo Grill, Toscana, Red Ginger and the Terrace Café. She also introduced Aquamar Kitchen, the Founders Bar and the line’s first Concierge Level staterooms for solo travelers.

Danny calls Vista a decade in the making and says Oceania took everything guests loved about the earlier ships and added so much more. He filmed her during her first season in the Mediterranean, from the pool deck and spa terrace to the lounges and restaurants. Oceania Vista Highlights

Pool Deck & Top-Deck Sports on Oceania Vista

Pool Deck & Top-Deck Sports

Vista’s main pool is big enough for laps, with a wide shallow entry where guests can sit along the edge, daybeds set right in the water, and two hot tubs. Loungers wrap around in sun and shade, and the Waves Bar keeps drinks flowing. A bandstand and big screen turn the deck into an entertainment zone at sail away. Up top are cornhole, a putting green, a Sport Court for pickleball, a jogging track, shuffleboard, croquet and bocce.

Danny's tip: “Look for the loungers tucked above the pool deck on Deck 15, six on each side. I find people often miss them, so it's a great place to tuck away.”

Terrace Café & Waves Grill

The Terrace Café is the casual restaurant all the way aft, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with elevated cuisine. There’s a hot line, a grill in back cooking steak and lobster to order at dinner, made-to-order salads, and a station for ice cream, sorbet and gelato. Outside, the aft terrace has a new shade structure and booth seating facing the wake. Nearby, Waves Grill serves a Wagyu burger, a surf-and-turf burger, paninis, antipasti and pizza.

Danny's tip: “My recommendation is to grab your food and head out to the aft terrace. There's something mesmerizing about the wake, and it's where I always love to be.”

Polo Grill, Toscana & Privée on Oceania Vista

Polo Grill, Toscana & Privée

On Oceania, the specialty restaurants are included in your fare, with reservation priority based on your suite or stateroom category. Polo Grill is the classic steakhouse with prime beef, colossal shrimp cocktail and surf and turf. Toscana serves Italian dishes on Versace tableware designed for Oceania, with recipes inspired by the cooks of Italy. Both have window tables that wrap around the aft. Between them sits Privée, an intimate room for wine-paired dinners that fills up fast.

Danny's tip: “At Polo Grill it's always the ribeye for me. At Toscana, I always request a table in the back by the aft windows.”

Aquamar Spa & Spa Terrace

The expanded Aquamar Spa offers massages, facials, acupuncture and a quartz bed, plus a full salon and a barber shop. Each locker room has a sauna, steam room and experience shower. Forward, the Aquamar Spa Terrace is open to Concierge Level and suite guests, with a thalassotherapy pool with waterfall jets, extra-large hot tubs, heated hot stone loungers and rainfall showers. Danny says it’s more expansive than he can imagine on just about any ship of this class.

Danny's tip: “Reserve your treatments early, especially for sea days, because those fill up first. With my back issues, I love the heated hot stone loungers out on the terrace.”

Horizons on Oceania Vista

Horizons

Horizons is the observation lounge all the way forward, a favorite on every Oceania ship. Sofas line the windows across the front of the ship, which makes it one of the best spots on board when Vista cruises through scenic waters. Afternoon tea is served here each day, and in the evening a band and dance floor make it the place for music before or after dinner. Just forward is an enclosed, well-ventilated cigar lounge.

Danny's tip: “High tea in Horizons is one of my favorite events on Oceania. My grandma loved high tea, and I always went with my grandparents when I cruised with them as a kid.”

Culinary Center & Artist Loft

Enrichment is a big part of the Oceania experience. The Culinary Center on Vista is larger than on earlier ships, with hands-on cooking classes led by chefs, an expanded venue for tastings and plating demos, and wine tastings. Some classes tie into excursions, where a chef takes guests to local markets ashore. At the Artist Loft, visiting artists teach their medium and guests create their own work. The Lync Digital Center offers photography and tech classes.

Danny's tip: “The chef-led market tours fill up very, very early, so book them ahead. The wine tasting is always my favorite way to complement the food.”

Grand Dining Room & Martinis on Oceania Vista

Grand Dining Room & Martinis

The Grand Dining Room sits all the way aft and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, with an expansive menu and open seating. The layout will feel familiar to Oceania fans, but it’s more intimate now, with a glass structure, marble floors and window tables for two and four. Before or after dinner, Martinis is the piano bar, with live music and expert mixologists, and the Founders Bar next door offers whiskey tastings.

Danny's tip: “One of my favorites in the Grand Dining Room is Sunday brunch. Before dinner, I head to Martinis; they're exceptional at making them.”

Red Ginger

Red Ginger is Oceania’s Pan-Asian restaurant, with inspiration from Thai, Korean, Japanese and Malaysian cooking. The menu runs from spicy to sweet and savory, with sushi rolls, soups, curries and fusion dishes, and like every specialty restaurant on Oceania it’s included in your fare. The dining room is elegant, with Asian-inspired decor throughout. The menu is large, so plan to visit more than once to try it all. Duty-free boutiques are just nearby.

Danny's tip: “I love that I can have my sushi rolls and my tom kha gai soup here. The menu is so big, you'll need to stop by a few times to try it all.”

Aquamar Kitchen

First introduced on Vista, Aquamar Kitchen serves wellness-focused dishes for breakfast and lunch, from poke bowls to avocado toast, plus a juice bar, all included. Danny calls it a grand slam.

A tribute to the line's founders and home of Vista's new mixology program, where bartenders craft smoked cocktails and host whiskey tastings. Guests can even learn the drinks in a mixology class.
