Adventure of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s third Voyager Class ship pairs the classic Royal Promenade and a three-story dining room with The Perfect Storm slides, a FlowRider and a two-level mini golf course from her 2018 amplification. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

A Voyager Class Classic, Amplified

Adventure of the Seas set sail in November 2001 as the third of five Voyager Class ships, the class that brought the Royal Promenade, the rock climbing wall, Johnny Rockets and an ice rink to sea. Her 2018 amplification added The Perfect Storm waterslides, Splashaway Bay, a FlowRider, Izumi, Giovanni’s Table and a two-level mini golf course. Danny calls the result a real upgrade to the experience.

Danny sailed her with his family in 2021, and his walkthrough covers the pool deck, the sports deck, the Viking Crown, the suite and Diamond lounges, Adventure Ocean, the spa, the Royal Promenade and the three-story Sapphire Dining Room. Adventure of the Seas Highlights

Pool Deck & Splashaway Bay on Adventure of the Seas

Pool Deck & Splashaway Bay

The pool deck has two pools with shallow, sit-in edges, two large hot tubs added in the renovation and two more off to the side. Splashaway Bay gives the littlest cruisers their own slides, water drops and water cannons. A steel drum band plays by the pool bar, a big screen shows movies and sporting events, and the running track wraps around above it all. Suite and Pinnacle guests get their own cordoned-off seating.

Danny's tip: “I do love the pool bar, but my favorite spot on the pool deck has to be the soft-serve station.”

FlowRider & The Perfect Storm

The Perfect Storm arrived in 2018 with a tower beside the aft funnel. Its racer slides send riders side by side, and a clear section loops out over the side of the ship before heading down. The FlowRider surf simulator offers stand-up surfing and boogie boarding, with sessions split into beginner, intermediate and advanced. Both are complimentary. Nearby are the sports court, the rock climbing wall that debuted on the Voyager Class, and ping pong tables.

Danny's tip: “Check in at the back before you ride. For the FlowRider, a parent has to sign the release form for kids, so stop by with them early in the cruise.”

Solarium on Adventure of the Seas

Solarium

The Solarium is a Voyager Class signature at the front of the ship, reserved for guests 16 and up. It has a large pool with bench seating around the edge, two hot tubs in the shade, extra-plush loungers and its own Solarium Bar. Big glass windows open on both sides to let the breeze through, and tables along the edges are popular for card games. It's a quiet counterpoint to the family pool deck.

Danny's tip: “While my daughter is having a great time at the kids club, this is where we come to have a drink and relax.”

Viking Crown & Suite Lounge

The Viking Crown is the ship's top-of-the-ship gathering spot, filled with daylight and views down to the pool deck. By evening it turns into a nightclub with a stage, a DJ booth and the Crow's Nest bar. The Suite Lounge, for Grand Suites and above and Pinnacle members, has a concierge, a daily complimentary happy hour and a new outdoor terrace. Diamond members and above have their own Diamond Club on the opposite side.

Danny's tip: “In the morning, while my wife and daughter are still sleeping, I come up here, make a coffee and sit and relax.”

Adventure Ocean & Teens on Adventure of the Seas

Adventure Ocean & Teens

Adventure Ocean splits kids into age-based spaces, from a preschool-style room with a little slide to bigger rooms for science, arts and crafts, sports and movie time. Programming changes throughout the day, usually with breaks around lunch and early dinner, and Danny's daughter begged to go back every night. Teens get their own club with a dance floor, a mocktail bar and cozy nooks. A large arcade with air hockey, racing games and a VR ride sits between them.

Danny's tip: “The arcade is an extra cost, so have that conversation with your kids before you go.”

Royal Promenade & Izumi

The Royal Promenade debuted on the Voyager Class and brought main street to a cruise ship, with interior staterooms that look down on it. Here it's home to Izumi, which Danny says sits front and center on the Promenade only on Adventure. Café Promenade serves pizza and snacks late into the night, the Duck and Dog pub has live music, and Boleros brings a live Latin band and dancing every night. Parades and theme parties fill the street.

Danny's tip: “At Izumi, the champagne lobster roll was absolutely out of this world.”

Chops Grille & Giovanni's Table on Adventure of the Seas

Chops Grille & Giovanni's Table

Chops Grille is a classic steakhouse with jumbo shrimp, crab cakes, prime cuts and plenty of sides, plus a table for ten that works well for celebrations. Giovanni's Table was beautifully redone in the renovation, with family-style seating, lots of window tables, an open kitchen and a big wine cabinet. Both cost extra, and Danny points out that specialty dining is always a choice: guests can eat well all cruise long at no extra cost.

Danny's tip: “Chops has been my number one choice on Royal Caribbean for years, and the bone-in ribeye is really the only steak for me.”

Shows & Nightlife

Studio B is a full ice rink with its own skating show, open skating sessions for guests, and a floor that covers the ice for parties like a 50s sock hop. The main theater stages production shows with a live orchestra, plus comedy and guest acts, all included. The Schooner Bar, Danny's favorite bar on any Royal Caribbean ship, hosts piano sing-alongs and trivia, and the casino offers slots, table games and Texas Hold'em.

Danny's tip: “In Studio B they also host The Quest, the adults-only game. I highly recommend you check it out.”

Signature Experiences on Adventure

Two-Level Mini Golf

When the FlowRider and The Perfect Storm went in, the mini golf course was rebuilt on two levels, so the ball travels from the upper holes down to the lower ones. Danny says he has only seen it on Adventure.

▶ See it · 10:26

Izumi on the Promenade

Danny's happy place on board. On Adventure, Izumi sits front and center on the Royal Promenade, with an open kitchen, booths and a sushi bar that faces the street so you can watch the chefs at work.

▶ See it · 42:18

Sapphire Dining Room

The complimentary main dining room spans three stories, with windows on every level, a grand staircase and a rotating menu. Danny's favorite moment is when the wait staff lines the stairways to sing and parade.
