Scarlet Lady

Virgin Voyages’ very first Lady Ship is adults only, with more than 20 included eateries, no buffet, and a long list of small, stylish spaces to share with friends. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

The Ship That Started It All for Virgin

Scarlet Lady is the ship that launched Virgin Voyages. Delivered in 2020, she sailed her inaugural voyage from Miami in October 2021 and is the first of the line’s four Lady Ships, a sister to Valiant, Resilient and Brilliant Lady. She is adults only (18+), and Virgin calls its guests Sailors. There’s no buffet and no main dining room. Instead, more than 20 eateries are included in the fare, from Gunbae’s Korean barbecue to Extra Virgin and Pink Agave.

Danny filmed this tour in October 2021, right as Scarlet Lady entered service, and he says the crew is the heart and soul of the ship. He starts on the pool deck and Richard’s Rooftop, then works through the Athletic Club, The Galley, the bars and lounges, The Manor, the restaurants and Redemption Spa. Some venues have changed since filming, and we’ve noted those below. Watch the full tour below, or jump straight to the part of the ship you care about most.

Scarlet Lady Highlights

Richard's Rooftop on Scarlet Lady

Richard's Rooftop

Richard's Rooftop sits at the very front of the top deck and pays homage to Sir Richard Branson. It's reserved for guests in RockStar and Mega RockStar Quarters. Loungers line the windows, with round daybeds, catamaran-style nets and a hot tub on each side. Richard's Rooftop Bar serves the whole space, and there are restrooms and charging points right there. Danny calls out the little design details, like ledges built in to rest your drink.

Danny's tip: “If you're in one of the top-level suites, you get quite a few included amenities, including drinks. Make sure you check with us when you book.”

The Athletic Club

The Athletic Club fills the aft end of the top decks. It starts with an outdoor boxing ring, punching bags and park-style fitness equipment, next to the Training Camp studio with TRX and kettlebells. Further aft are daybeds with net seats, seesaws and swings, a sport court for basketball and soccer, giant foosball tables and cornhole. At the very back are two big bars, a hot tub and a triple catamaran net high above the wake.

Danny's tip: “Lying out on that catamaran net at the very top of the ship, I can look straight down at the wake. I may never leave.”

The Galley on Scarlet Lady

The Galley

The Galley is Virgin's answer to the buffet, set up like a food hall with made-to-order counters, all included. There's Well Bread for fresh bakes, the Burger Bar with an Impossible burger, All Day Breakfast, the Diner and Dash, Bento Baby, Let's Taco About It, Noodle Around and Hot Off the Press paninis, plus rotating food-cart pop-ups. Sodas, still and sparkling water are complimentary, and there's an outdoor deck aft for dining with a view.

Danny's tip: “With this many choices, I can come back multiple times and have a completely different meal every single time. My all-time favorite at the taco counter is the al pastor.”

Gunbae

Gunbae sits on the aft port side of The Galley and serves classic Korean barbecue. Scarlet Lady has no main dining room, so Gunbae is one of a series of sit-down restaurants included in the fare. Every table is a booth with a grill in the middle, so the group cooks together, or the crew will happily cook for you. The ultra-modern room also has window booths that look out over the ocean.

Danny's tip: “If you love barbecue and you love Korean food, definitely try out Gunbae. You can cook it yourself, or they're happy to do it for you.”

Extra Virgin on Scarlet Lady

Extra Virgin

Extra Virgin is Scarlet Lady's Italian restaurant and one of the biggest hits on board. Everything is made from scratch, including the handmade pasta, and the menu runs from appetizers and salads to cheeses and main courses like sea bass. Danny calls it a fresh, modern take on Italian food. Like the other sit-down restaurants, Extra Virgin is included in the fare, so it's easy to come back more than once during a voyage.

Danny's tip: “For me, it's always going to be the carbonara. Then I finish it off with the sea bass.”

The Dock & The Wake

At the aft end of the ship, The Dock House is a large lounge with a bar, booths and chargers, and it opens onto The Dock outside. The Dock has its own bar, with flag service at the tables, daybeds and low chairs facing the wake. One deck below is The Wake, the included steakhouse, with a grand piano and upgrade options like a seafood tower or tomahawk steak. It also serves breakfast and brunch.

Danny's tip: “My favorite place on any cruise ship is the aft. For me, nothing lowers my blood pressure like looking at the wake from the back of the ship.”

Redemption Spa & Thermal Suite on Scarlet Lady

Redemption Spa & Thermal Suite

Redemption Spa is large for a ship this size. The Thermal Suite is an extra-cost day or voyage pass and includes a warm hydrotherapy pool, a warm plunge and two cold plunge pools, heated marble loungers, an ocean-view sauna, a mud room, a steam room with a rainforest shower and a Himalayan salt room. Treatments range from Swedish, bamboo and hot stone massages to facials and body wraps, with a couples suite that has its own soaking tub.

Danny's tip: “This thermal suite is one of the best I've seen in the entire industry, and definitely for a ship this size.”

Pink Agave

Pink Agave is Scarlet Lady's modern Mexican restaurant, entered through a striking doorway of glass bubbles. Inside are booths along the walls, corner booths, a bar and high-top tables for ten that make dinner feel social. One wall holds a big tequila and mezcal collection, and the bar offers mezcal tastings and pairings. Like the other restaurants it's included in the fare, with a few optional upgrade items on the menu for a splurge.

Danny's tip: “I highly recommend that you combine a mezcal tasting with the food to take it to the next level.”

Signature Experiences on Scarlet Lady

The Red Room

Virgin's reinvention of the main theater, forward on Decks 6 and 7. The seating pulls back so the room can switch from theater in the round to a club-style space, with shows created just for Virgin.

Voyage Vinyl

A record store at sea, a nod to Virgin's start in Virgin Records. Sailors can browse and buy albums, and RockStar and Mega RockStar suites have record players to spin them in the room.

Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle

Scarlet Lady's own dinner concept, a Chinese-inspired menu with dishes like Peking duck bao buns and stir-fried noodles. By day the same room still serves Razzle Dazzle's veggie-forward breakfast and brunch, which Danny toured.
