Star Breeze

Windstar’s all-suite Star Class yacht carries just 312 guests to small harbors and lagoons that big ships can’t reach, with complimentary dining, an open bridge and a watersports platform off the stern. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

A Stretched and Renewed Yacht for Tahiti

Star Breeze began life in 1989 as Seabourn Spirit and joined Windstar in 2015. In 2020 she was cut in half and lengthened with a new midsection of more than 80 feet, which brought new suite categories, a new engine, an infinity-edge pool, the Star Grill and an expanded Amphora restaurant. Today she sails year-round in Tahiti, round trip from Papeete, with 312 guests in 156 ocean-facing suites.

Danny calls her a ship in incredible shape, built around Windstar’s idea of destination immersion. He walks you from the pool deck and Star Grill up to the Yacht Club and the open bridge, through the World Spa, Veranda and Amphora, and all the way aft to the watersports marina. Star Breeze Highlights

Pool Deck on Star Breeze

Pool Deck

The infinity-edge pool was one of the big additions when Star Breeze was lengthened, with a hot tub set just above it. Extra-comfy loungers wrap around the upper deck, more loungers sit in the sun below, and a few are tucked away for shade. Pool bar service runs the whole time you're on board, so drinks come to you. At night the pool glows with blue light, which makes the deck a pretty spot after dinner.

Star Grill

Star Grill is the casual outdoor restaurant up top, serving lunch and dinner. Danny explains that the menu was created with James Beard Foundation award winner Steven Raichlen, so it's all about rotisserie, smoked and grilled dishes, from Peruvian rotisserie chicken to ribs. You can grab and go buffet-style, order from the menu, or eat at the full bar. On the port side, sofas and cocktail tables make a relaxed lounge with ever-changing ocean views.

Danny's tip: “Forget the bridge or the engines. To me the most important part of the ship is the soft-serve ice cream at the Star Grill, and you can have it just about any time of day.”

Yacht Club Café & Library on Star Breeze

Yacht Club Café & Library

At the very top and front of the ship, the Yacht Club works like a living room. A café in the corner serves espresso drinks and sweets, and tables line 180 degrees of floor-to-ceiling windows. There's a puzzle and game corner with Scrabble, Mahjong and chess, a library of reference, fiction and nonfiction books, and big TVs for major games. An outside deck up front is ideal for glaciers in Alaska or volcanic peaks in Tahiti.

Danny's tip: “I stop by the café for a cookie or three, or maybe a cupcake, every time I walk by. My wife likes to use the Yacht Club as her sewing room.”

World Spa & Fitness

World Spa by Windstar has a relaxation room, four treatment rooms, a full salon and a barber shop. Its thermal suite is complimentary for all guests, which Danny says you don't really find on other lines: heated, ergonomic stone loungers, a steam room, a sauna and an experience shower with a rainfall head and side jets. Just aft is the fitness center, with cardio machines, weights and circuit equipment, plus a studio for yoga and other classes.

Danny's tip: “I recommend stopping by the spa on your first day. My all-time favorite treatment is the hot stone massage, and after a long flight, a bamboo or deep-tissue massage goes a long way.”

Veranda & Candles on Star Breeze

Veranda & Candles

Veranda is the casual restaurant for breakfast and lunch, with a coffee station, cooked-to-order eggs in the morning, and salads, paninis and sandwiches at lunch. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out to sea, and the aft terrace has tables for two, four and six behind glass partitions. In the evening the space becomes Candles, Windstar's alfresco steakhouse under the stars. Like all dining on board, it's included in your fare, and reservations are required.

Danny's tip: “My favorite place on any ship is the very back, and my favorite way to dine is alfresco. A steakhouse dinner out here in the evening is lovely, and so is starting the day with eggs and juice.”

Amphora & Basil + Bamboo

Amphora is the main dinner restaurant, and it grew much larger in the renovation. The menu rotates nightly, with a dish from a James Beard Foundation chef alongside classics like Alaskan salmon, steak and chicken, plus desserts and cheeses. For something different, Basil + Bamboo blends Asian and Mediterranean flavors. It replaced the Spanish restaurant shown in Danny's tour in 2025, and it's complimentary with reservations, usually once per voyage.

Danny's tip: “A really cool option is that you can generally order off the Amphora menu and have it delivered by room service for dinner.”

Compass Rose Lounge on Star Breeze

Compass Rose Lounge

Compass Rose is the social heart of the ship, with a full bar, tables for two, big sofas and small nooks for groups. A compass rose is set into the dance floor. In the evening it hosts live music and dancing, and during the day it's a relaxed place to read or sip a coffee. Wraparound windows give 180-degree views, and small balconies on either side let you step out for a photo.

Danny's tip: “What I really appreciate here is all the windows. It's the perfect place to sit when you're sailing through scenic parts of the world, and you can step outside on either side to take photos.”

Watersports Marina

At the stern, the back of the ship folds down into a watersports marina platform. From here, expedition-style rigid inflatable boats take guests ashore for excursions and landings. When the platform is open, weather and port permitting, guests can kayak, snorkel and paddleboard, and Star Class yachts also carry motorized toys. The watersports are complimentary, and it's one of the ways a small ship lets you enjoy a destination like Tahiti up close.

Danny's tip: “The watersports marina is one of my favorite features of this ship, and of any ship in the world.”

Signature Experiences on Star Breeze

Open Bridge

Windstar keeps an open bridge whenever safety allows. Sit with a coffee, meet the captain and officers, and see paper and digital charts, plus a whale chart for wildlife spotting.

Forward Sun Deck & Hot Tub

Many guests don't find this spot until late in the cruise. Loungers and a hot tub sit right at the bow, with nothing in front of you but the view.

Destination Lectures in The Lounge

The Lounge hosts local entertainers and lectures about the places you're visiting, and in ports without a terminal it doubles as the spot where you check in.
