Denali Grizzly Bear Resort
A family-owned riverside resort near the Denali park entrance, used for one Denali night on Royal Caribbean’s Kenai Fjords & Wildlife Cruisetour.
A family-run stop on the river
Denali Grizzly Bear Resort has been family owned and operated since 1968, on the banks of the Nenana River just south of Denali National Park. Royal Caribbean uses it for the single Denali night on its Kenai Fjords & Wildlife Cruisetour, arriving by motorcoach from Anchorage on the same day as the included Denali Natural History Tour.
Most guests stay in the cedar-paneled Cedar Hotel, where most rooms open onto a private deck over the river. It’s a simple, relaxed place to sleep after a big park day, with an evening free for a riverside stroll or an optional excursion.
Inside the stay
The Cedar Hotel
The Cedar Hotel’s rooms are paneled in cedar, with two double beds, a full bath, in-room coffee and tea, and a sliding glass door to a private deck. Most overlook the Nenana River, and a newer group of rooms up the hill looks out toward the mountains. The resort also has restored historic cabins, though cruisetour guests are typically placed in hotel rooms.
Food & the store
There’s no full-service restaurant on the property. Instead you’ll find a food truck court with covered pavilions and a general store stocked with snacks, drinks, beer and wine, souvenirs and warm layers. Wi-Fi is sold by the hour or day here rather than included.
Your Denali day
Royal’s itinerary includes the Denali Natural History Tour into the park on arrival day. After that the evening is yours: walk the riverbank, or ask your Adventure Specialist about optional flightseeing or rafting on the Nenana.
Tours that stay here
- Royal Caribbean 2027 and 2028 cruisetours
- How long. 1 night here, most often 1 night.
- Want more time here? Some tours add an extra night. Tell your advisor and we’ll find the version that fits.
Before you go
- Ship packages stay on the ship. Your ship dining and beverage packages don’t apply on the land portion of any cruisetour, so plan to pay as you go for meals and drinks at the lodge.
- Bring snacks for the evening. With a food truck court rather than a restaurant on site, it’s worth picking up something for later. The general store helps too.
- Plan for Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi here is a paid add-on after a short free session, so download what you need before you arrive.
