Holland America Dawson City Inn
Your home for two nights in the Klondike on Holland America’s Denali & Yukon cruisetours, the only cruisetours that come this far. Here’s what to expect.
Two nights in the Klondike
Dawson City was the center of the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush, and much of it still looks the part: boardwalks, false-front buildings and dirt streets on the banks of the Yukon River. Holland America is the only cruise line that brings guests here, and every Denali & Yukon cruisetour includes two nights at this downtown inn, plus a Tour Director who travels with you.
The inn, long known as the Westmark, has turn-of-the-century styled rooms, a dining room, a lounge with what it calls the best outdoor deck in town and a landscaped courtyard. It’s simple and comfortable rather than fancy. What you’re really here for is the town, and most of it is a short walk away.
Formerly Westmark Inn Dawson City (briefly Holland America Hotels Inn Dawson City).
Inside the stay
The rooms
Rooms are decorated in a turn-of-the-century style, with private bathrooms, a coffee maker and toiletries. The inn is spread over several buildings around the courtyard, and there’s coin laundry on site, which is handy this deep into a land tour. Wi-Fi is strongest in the lobby.
Belinda’s & the Keno
Belinda’s Dining Room serves breakfast, with a buffet plus an a la carte menu, and home-style dinners featuring Arctic char, steaks and local produce. The Gold Rush-themed Keno Lounge serves lunch and dinner, with appetizers, burgers and a big outdoor deck overlooking the courtyard gardens, a great spot on a long, light summer evening.
The Klondike Gold Tour
Every Denali & Yukon cruisetour includes the Klondike Gold Tour, curated with the HISTORY Channel, to get you oriented in the boomtown’s story. Dawson City is part of the Tr’ondëk-Klondike UNESCO World Heritage Site, which also tells the story of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in people. Your Tour Director can help you plan the rest of your time and book any extra tours with Holland America.
Around town
Walk to the Dänojà Zho Cultural Centre on the waterfront, the Dawson City Museum and its Klondike Mines Railway locomotives, and Diamond Tooth Gertie’s, the gambling hall with nightly can-can shows a few blocks from the inn. Out of town, Claim No. 6 on Bonanza Creek is where the rush started, and Gold Dredge No. 4 is a massive relic of the mining years.
Tours that stay here
- Holland America 2027 cruisetours
- How long. 2 nights here, most often 2 nights.
- Want more time here? Some tours add an extra night. Tell your advisor and we’ll find the version that fits.
Before you go
- Pack light for the flight. On flights between Dawson City and Fairbanks or Whitehorse, Holland America allows up to two checked bags with a combined weight of 50 pounds, plus one carry-on of up to 13 pounds, because of the small aircraft. Guests ask us about this a lot, so plan your packing around it.
- Ship packages stay on the ship. Ship dining and beverage packages don’t apply on the land portion, for any brand. Meals and drinks at the lodge are paid as you go unless your tour includes them. Holland America also offers a separate Cruisetour Dining Package that covers select breakfasts and dinners at its own lodges, so ask your advisor whether it’s part of your booking.
- Bring an eye mask. In June and July, Dawson City barely gets dark. The long evenings are wonderful for walking around town, but an eye mask helps you sleep.
- Have your passport handy. Dawson City is in Canada’s Yukon Territory, so you’ll need a valid passport for this part of the trip. Traveling with mobility needs? Tell your advisor; our accessibility specialist can help arrange it.
