Holland America Skagway Inn
A Gold Rush-style inn a short walk from Broadway and the cruise piers, used for two-night Skagway stays on Holland America’s longer Denali & Yukon cruisetours.
Skagway after the ships leave
Most cruise guests get a few hours in Skagway. On Holland America’s Y3 and Y4 cruisetours you get two nights, which means quiet evenings on Broadway once the day’s ships have sailed. This 94-room inn, long known as the Westmark, sits just off the historic district, with Victorian decor and Gold Rush photos on the walls.
Skagway was the jumping-off point for the Klondike in 1898, and the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway still climbs the stampeders’ route into the mountains. It’s included on these tours, along with a Tour Director. The rest of town, from the national park sites to the trailheads, is an easy walk from the front door.
Formerly Westmark Inn Skagway (briefly Holland America Hotels Inn Skagway).
Inside the stay
The rooms
Rooms have a Gold Rush look with beamed ceilings, plus a coffee maker, flat-screen TV and toiletries. There’s a lobby with comfortable seating and Wi-Fi, and the inn is non-smoking. It’s a classic small-town inn rather than a resort, and the location is the selling point.
Chilkoot & Bonanza
The Chilkoot Dining Room serves steak and seafood surrounded by E.A. Hegg’s historic Gold Rush photographs; reservations are encouraged. The Bonanza Bar & Grill is the lively one, with Alaska ales, burgers, daily specials and weekly entertainment. For a quick coffee before the train, there’s the Chilkoot Cafe.
The White Pass & Yukon Route
The narrow-gauge White Pass & Yukon Route Railway climbs from sea level to the summit of White Pass, past waterfalls, gorges and trestles, following the trail the stampeders took to the Klondike. It’s included on Holland America’s Y3, Y4 and Y5 tours and the Y6 cruise-first tour, and it’s an optional extra on the line’s other cruisetours.
Around town
Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park is right here, and its rangers lead free walking tours of the historic district several times a day. Stroll Broadway’s false-front buildings, visit the Skagway Museum, or take a trail from town to waterfalls and lakes. Extras like dog sledding, flightseeing or a trip into the Yukon are booked with Holland America.
Tours that stay here
- Holland America 2027 cruisetours
- How long. 2 nights here, most often 2 nights.
- Want more time here? Some tours add an extra night. Tell your advisor and we’ll find the version that fits.
Before you go
- Ship packages stay on the ship. Ship dining and beverage packages don’t apply on the land portion, for any brand. Meals and drinks at the lodge are paid as you go unless your tour includes them. Holland America also offers a separate Cruisetour Dining Package that covers select breakfasts and dinners at its own lodges, so ask your advisor whether it’s part of your booking.
- Explore in the evening. Daytime Skagway can be busy with several ships in port. Once they sail, the town quiets down, which is the best time to walk Broadway and the historic district.
- Bring a passport. Your Yukon days and the White Pass route cross into Canada, so keep your passport with you.
- Use the free shuttle. The inn runs a complimentary shuttle to the Skagway airport and ferry terminal. Traveling with mobility needs? Tell your advisor; our accessibility specialist can help arrange it.
