Seven Seas Mariner

Regent’s original all-suite, all-balcony ship carries about 700 guests, with three included specialty restaurants, a top deck full of games and a fresh November 2025 refurbishment. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

The Original All-Suite, All-Balcony Ship

Seven Seas Mariner entered service in 2001, built in Saint-Nazaire, France, as the first ship where every accommodation was a suite with its own private balcony. She carries about 700 guests with a crew of 459, and the fare includes specialty dining, drinks, shore excursions, WiFi and gratuities. A November 2025 refurbishment refreshed the suites, rebuilt the Pool Grill with a pizzeria and added the new Epicurean Enrichment Studio.

Danny filmed this tour in late 2022, before the refurbishment, so a few spaces look a little different today. He says Regent believes luxury is all about space, service and inclusions, and he shows all three, from the putting green up top to Chartreuse, the Horizon Lounge and Compass Rose. Seven Seas Mariner Highlights

Pool Deck & Pool Grill on Seven Seas Mariner

Pool Deck & Pool Grill

The pool is big enough for laps, best in the morning or evening when it's quieter, with three hot tubs and thickly padded loungers with terry-cloth covers in sun and shade. The pool bar keeps drinks coming across the deck. Next door, the Pool Grill has a buffet, grill items made to order and brought to your table, and an ice cream and gelato bar. Since the 2025 refurbishment it also has an outdoor pizzeria and serves dinner.

Danny's tip: “What I love about the Pool Grill is you just order, go have a seat and they bring it to you. And of course, the most important part of any cruise ship is the ice cream.”

Putting Green & Sports Deck

The aft of Deck 12 is a playground of complimentary games. There's a nine-hole putting green, golf nets for practicing your swing, and a court for paddle tennis or pickleball, all with sweeping sea views. Croquet, bocce and classic shuffleboard round it out, there's ping pong too, and a walking track circles the deck. Danny notes that plenty of Regent guests love golf, and the ship visits destinations with some of the top courses in the world.

Danny's tip: “I love that you can come up here for a little social time and some great exercise, with incredible views. That's one of the things cruising is all about.”

Observation Lounge on Seven Seas Mariner

Observation Lounge

Perched at the very top of the ship, all the way forward, the Observation Lounge wraps floor-to-ceiling windows 180 degrees around the bow. It's the place to be when the ship sails through the scenic parts of the world. A full bar sits in the middle, with tables for two and four along the windows and small seating areas for events. The room hosts trivia and entertainment, and a piano brings live music from early evening into the night.

Danny's tip: “If you're looking for a place to escape during the day, this is it. My wife loves it as her sewing room, with all that wonderful natural light.”

La Veranda & Sette Mari

La Veranda, at the aft of Deck 11, is the casual buffet for breakfast and lunch every day, with an egg station in the morning, made-to-order pasta at lunch and dishes that change daily. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the room like a giant horseshoe, and an outdoor terrace has tables for two lined up along the wake. Each evening the room becomes Sette Mari at La Veranda, an Italian restaurant with all the favorites, included in the fare.

Danny's tip: “The outdoor veranda is my personal favorite place to be. I love being at the aft of the ship and I love dining al fresco.”

Serene Spa & Fitness Center on Seven Seas Mariner

Serene Spa & Fitness Center

Serene Spa & Wellness has a full-service salon and barbershop, manicure and pedicure stations facing the ocean, and treatment rooms for massages, wraps and facials. Every guest can use the steam room and sauna in the men's and women's locker rooms, and a relaxation area serves infused waters and teas. Next door, the fitness center has circuit machines, cardio along the windows and an aerobics studio with complimentary yoga, stretching and spinning classes.

Danny's tip: “Stop by on boarding day for a complimentary tour and reserve your treatments, because sea days fill up a little faster. My all-time favorite treatment is the hot stones.”

Chartreuse

Chartreuse is the French specialty restaurant, with classic technique and a modern twist. Expect fine meats, lobster, seafood and French favorites, from escargot to mushroom soup with truffles, plus a blue cheese soufflé that Danny's wife loves. Like every restaurant on Mariner, it comes at no additional cost, with reservations. Guests in upgraded suites get priority dinner reservations, and the very top suites can even have Chartreuse dishes served in-suite.

Danny's tip: “I always start with the escargot, work my way through the mushroom soup with truffles, and then it's the lobster. I make it a surf and turf with the beef tenderloin.”

Horizon Lounge on Seven Seas Mariner

Horizon Lounge

The Horizon Lounge, at the aft of Deck 6, is a scenic lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows, a full dance floor and a stage for music before and after dinner, shows and enrichment talks. A full bar serves the whole room, and complimentary high tea is served here during the cruise. Around the corner, a quiet aft seating area has sofas facing the wake. Next door, the Connoisseur Club pairs cigars from around the world with whiskeys.

Danny's tip: “One of my favorite things to do here is high tea. Then I head out to the aft seating area. Staring at that wake with a drink in my hand makes my blood pressure go down.”

Compass Rose & Prime 7

Compass Rose is the main dining room, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, with tables for two by the windows up to tables for ten, and Versace tableware. The menu rotates daily, with classics like crab, shrimp, steak and salmon always on hand. Prime 7 is the steakhouse, with every style of beef plus chicken and seafood. It's included in the fare, but reservations are required, and Danny recommends making them before you sail.

Danny's tip: “Cruising is the perfect place to try something new. Many of my favorite dishes I found on board. At Prime 7, I always get the bone-in ribeye with a full lobster tail.”

A Real Library

Mariner keeps a true library, with a faux fireplace, travel reference books and a large fiction and non-fiction collection. Danny says he finds books here he may never find anywhere else.

The Promenade Deck

Outside on Deck 6, a classic promenade deck circles the ship. It's the spot for a sea-day walk, or for watching for whales and fjords as you sail some of the world's most scenic waters.
