Azamara Pursuit

Azamara Pursuit is a small, destination-focused ship built for late nights and overnights in port, with a bright Living Room up top, a relaxed crowd and the famous White Night party on deck. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

A Small Ship That Stays Longer in Port

Azamara Pursuit joined the fleet in August 2018 as Azamara’s third ship, after an extensive refit. Built in 2001 as one of the R-class ships, she later sailed as Princess’s Royal Princess and P&O’s Adonia, and she carries only about 700 guests. Azamara is all about Destination Immersion, with longer stays, late nights and overnights in smaller ports as well as the classics. Gratuities, select spirits, beer, wine, soft drinks and specialty coffees are included in the fare.

Danny and his wife have sailed all four Azamara ships, and he filmed this tour on Pursuit in Amsterdam. He starts on the walking deck above the pool and heads through the Living Room, both specialty restaurants, the Sanctum Spa and the Cabaret Lounge, then down to Discoveries Restaurant and the Promenade. Azamara Pursuit Highlights

Pool Deck & Sun Deck on Azamara Pursuit

Pool Deck & Sun Deck

The pool deck has a full pool and two hot tubs with bench seating around the edge, a pool bar, thickly padded loungers facing the sea, facing inward and facing the pool, and a stage for live music. Deck 10 above doubles as a walking track. Higher still, the sun deck adds day beds, bird's nest seating and a windbreak up front. This is also where Azamara holds White Night, its famous deck party.

Danny's tip: “When I want a little relaxation in the sun, I head up to the sun deck. It's a great place to get away, it's one of the quieter spots on board, and it's fantastic when you're cruising through scenic parts of the world.”

The Living Room

A fan favorite at the top front of the ship, the Living Room has floor-to-ceiling windows on the sides and across the front. There's afternoon tapas, daily tea time, an espresso machine and a central bar, plus a dance floor and bandstand used for trivia, pre- and post-dinner dancing and even karaoke. The Card Room and guest computers sit on the starboard side, and the Drawing Room library is nearby.

Danny's tip: “One of my favorite spots on any ship in the world is a chaise lounger up here looking straight out the front. If you're cruising somewhere ultra scenic, you may want to stake out a spot up here.”

Aqualina & Prime C on Azamara Pursuit

Aqualina & Prime C

Pursuit has two specialty restaurants. Aqualina is the Italian restaurant, bright and modern, with dishes like bresaola and lobster ravioli, and it hosts the daily suite breakfast. Prime C is a classic steakhouse with an Azamara flair, a full bar and a sommelier to guide the wine list. Both have floor-to-ceiling windows and tables wrapping around the stern. Suite guests dine at both at no extra charge, and Veranda Plus guests get a complimentary night.

Danny's tip: “My high recommendation is to lock in your specialty dining reservations as early as you can.”

Windows Café & Sunset Veranda

Windows Café is the casual buffet, named for its floor-to-ceiling windows and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Stations include made-to-order eggs, pizza, fresh breads, soups, a carvery and a fromagerie with cheeses and charcuterie, plus desserts and complimentary gelato. Out back, the Sunset Veranda has shaded and open tables facing the wake. Next door, The Patio grills burgers and steaks to order, with the Swirl & Top soft-serve station.

Danny's tip: “The Sunset Veranda is my personal favorite public space on the ship. I grab a quick bite and watch the wake as we sail in or out of port. And try the gelato, because my all-time favorite is the cinnamon.”

Sanctum Spa & Terrace on Azamara Pursuit

Sanctum Spa & Terrace

The Sanctum Spa offers massages, facials and other treatments, a salon with ocean-view hair stations, manicures and pedicures, and an acupuncture clinic. A steam room in the locker rooms is complimentary for all guests. Forward, the Sanctum Terrace has a Thalassotherapy pool, comfy loungers and bird's nest swings, and access is included for suite guests, while others can buy a day or cruise pass. The fitness center next door offers complimentary yoga, stretching and spin classes.

Danny's tip: “Stop by the spa on your very first day for a tour and to lock in the perfect time. After a long flight or a day of excursions, I love coming up for acupuncture to help with my back and knees.”

Cabaret Lounge

The Cabaret Lounge is Pursuit's main entertainment venue, with a full stage, seating around the dance floor and a raised tier of bar-style seating in back, plus a full bar serving drinks throughout each show. There's usually something every evening. The ship's singers and dancers put on production shows, guest lecturers and guest entertainers come aboard, and the cruise director joins in too. Before and after dinner, the room is used for dancing.

The Den & Spirits Bar on Azamara Pursuit

The Den & Spirits Bar

The Den is a multi-use space. It holds the shore excursions desk with a reference library, the cruise again desk for booking a future Azamara voyage, and the Azamara Circle desk for loyalty questions. Further in, the lounge has sofas, chairs and cocktail tables around the Spirits Bar, with a piano player most days and a fireplace in the corner. Danny says it's set up to feel like your own living room.

Danny's tip: “Pre-book your shore excursions ahead of time, then wrap up any remaining excursion business early in the cruise so you get exactly what you're looking for.”

Discoveries Restaurant

Discoveries is the main dining room, serving a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. Tables for two line the windows, with larger tables for four, six or groups, and a raised center section. It's also home to Azamara's signature Sea Day Brunch. Just inside the entrance, Discoveries Bar has a sofa, tables and bar seats, making it a good spot for a pre- or post-dinner cocktail while you wait for friends.

Danny's tip: “I always request a seat by the window, and all the way aft is my personal favorite spot. If you want to dine at a larger table and meet new friends, let the maître d' know when you arrive.”
