Harvest Caye
Norwegian’s 75-acre island resort in southern Belize, with a big free pool, a 7-acre beach and the Belize Barrier Reef close by. Here’s what’s included and what costs extra.
A resort day in Belize
Harvest Caye is Norwegian’s island resort in southern Belize: 75 acres with a 7-acre white-sand beach, a large pool with a swim-up bar and cascading waterfalls, a saltwater lagoon for paddling and a 136-foot tower where the zip lines start. It’s also the jumping-off point for Belize itself, from the Barrier Reef to the rainforest.
One thing sets it apart from most private islands: food and drinks aren’t included, and your Norwegian beverage package doesn’t apply at the island’s bars and restaurants. The beach and pool are free, so you can have a great day without spending much. Just plan for lunch, or head back to the ship to eat.
Free, or worth the upgrade
There’s no fee to go ashore. Anything marked extra charge is booked with the cruise line, and prices vary by sailing; your advisor can pull yours.

Explore Harvest Caye
The pool
The heart of the island: a big resort-style pool with cascading waterfalls, lots of loungers and a swim-up bar. Restaurants and bars are close by, and private cabanas for rent overlook the pool. Drinks at the swim-up bar cost extra, and the beverage package doesn’t apply.
The 7-acre beach
A long stretch of white sand with free loungers and umbrellas and calm, clear water. For more privacy, Norwegian rents beachfront cabanas and larger beach villas with air conditioning, private bathrooms, concierge or butler service and golf carts for getting around the island.
The Flighthouse
The 136-foot tower at the center of the island, billed by Norwegian as the tallest building in Belize, is the launch point for 3,000 feet of zip lines. Runs fly over the beach and across the lagoon, including a face-down “Superman” option for those who want it. Book it ahead in your Norwegian cruise planner.
The lagoon
A calm saltwater lagoon on the inland side of the island, with kayak, stand-up paddleboard and electric float boat rentals. Guided tours here can include a look at the mangroves, and you may spot manatees along the banks. The Nature Center, with toucans and other Belizean wildlife, is nearby.
Before you go ashore
- Food isn’t included. Unlike most private islands, every bar and restaurant on Harvest Caye charges, and Norwegian’s beverage, soda and specialty dining packages don’t apply here. Your Wi-Fi package doesn’t work ashore either. The ship is a short walk away if you’d like a free lunch.
- Book as soon as you can. Cabanas, beach villas and the zip lines are limited. Reserve in your Norwegian cruise planner, or ask your advisor to do it for you. If the price drops later, you can usually cancel and rebook at the lower price. Just know it could sell out in between, so check availability before you cancel.
- Excursions are booked with Norwegian. Barrier Reef snorkeling, rainforest tubing and mainland tours all leave from the island’s marina. Book them through Norwegian so the ship knows where you are and you’re covered if a tour runs late. If a port call is cancelled, Norwegian refunds prepaid excursions.
- Traveling with mobility needs? Tell your Harr Travel advisor about your mobility needs when you book. Our accessibility specialist can request the right cabana, rentals and cruise-line support before you sail.
