Perfect Day CocoCay

Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas, and the most-visited stop on Harr Travel bookings. Here’s what’s free, what’s worth the upgrade and what to book early.

Private island

The stop our guests book around

More Harr Travel guests visit Perfect Day CocoCay than any other port. Many choose their sailing for it. Royal Caribbean has turned the island into a full day out: beaches with free loungers, the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, a kids’ splash zone and five places to eat at no charge, plus upgrades for guests who want a waterpark, an adults-only beach or a cabana over the water.

The best days here are planned before you sail. The most popular cabanas and day passes sell out, sometimes months ahead, so this guide covers what’s included, what’s worth paying for and what our guests book first.

What’s included

Free, or worth the upgrade

Coco Beach Club

Extra charge · day pass or cabana

The island’s premium retreat: a private beach, an infinity pool and an upgraded restaurant, all included with the day pass. It’s also home to the first overwater cabanas in The Bahamas. Our guests book this more than anything else on the island.

Thrill Waterpark

Extra charge · admission or waterpark cabana

Thirteen waterslides, a wave pool and an adventure pool, including Daredevil’s Peak, which Royal Caribbean bills as the tallest waterslide in North America. Admission includes lunch at the Snack Shack. Families with older kids often spend most of the day here.

Hideaway Beach

Extra charge · day pass or cabana

The adults-only (18+) beach, with a swim-up bar, a DJ, live music and its own dining. It’s lively by design. If you want quiet, Coco Beach Club is the calmer choice.

Chill Island & South Beach

Included · cabanas and daybeds extra

The free beaches, with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. Cabanas and daybeds, available for an extra charge, give you shade and a home base for the day without the cost of a beach club.

Oasis Lagoon

Included

The Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, complimentary, with a swim-up bar. Nearby, Splashaway Bay and Captain Jill’s Galleon keep younger kids busy for hours.

Up, Up and Away

Extra charge · per person

A tethered helium balloon that rises to the highest viewpoint in The Bahamas, with the whole island and your ship below. Book it on the island or ahead in your cruise planner.

What our guests book

Our guests’ favorites

  1. Coco Beach Club: cabanas & day passes

Extra charge. Overwater cabanas, beach cabanas and day passes are the CocoCay upgrade our guests ask about most. Families with toddlers usually pick a beach cabana so the kids can play in the sand; couples tend to choose the overwater ones.

  2. Thrill Waterpark

Extra charge. The pick for families with kids old enough for the big slides. Larger groups often reserve a waterpark cabana, which includes admission for several guests.

  3. Chill Island & South Beach cabanas

Extra charge (the beaches themselves are free). A quieter, lower-cost way to have shade and a base for the day. Guests with limited mobility often ask for one near the tram, restrooms or the pier. Mention it when you book.

  4. Hideaway Beach

Extra charge. The adults-only choice for guests who want music and a party atmosphere. Some guests who usually book overwater cabanas switch to a Hideaway cabana for a change of pace.

Inside a Coco Beach Club cabana

Extra charge · a cabana includes the day pass
Coco Beach is the small luxury portion of Coco Cay. They only sell a very limited amount of day passes and cabanas. Of course, if you get a cabana, it includes the day pass as well.

Before you go ashore

  • Book as soon as you can. Cabanas and day passes are first come, first served, and the best ones sell out early. Reserve in your cruise planner, or ask your advisor to do it for you. If the price drops or a sale comes along later, you can usually cancel and rebook at the lower price. Just know the cabana you want could sell out in between, so check that it’s still available before you cancel.
  • One name, whole party. A cabana is reserved under one guest. The rest of your party just shows up with you on the island and is escorted in. Larger groups may need two cabanas.
  • Weather can change the plan. Like any port, CocoCay can be skipped for weather. Royal Caribbean refunds prepaid island purchases when a visit is cancelled.
  • Excursions are Royal Caribbean only. Everything on CocoCay is booked through Royal Caribbean; outside tour companies don’t operate here.
  • Getting around. A complimentary tram loops the island, and beach wheelchairs are free to use. Coco Beach Club has paved paths, but it’s a walk or tram ride from the pier.
  • Traveling with mobility needs? Tell your Harr Travel advisor about your mobility needs when you book. Our accessibility specialist can request the right cabana, rentals and cruise-line support before you sail.
