Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Disney Cruise Line’s newer Bahamas island day, on the southern tip of Eleuthera. Wide, soft-sand beaches, Bahamian art and music, and a long pier walk worth planning for.

Private island

A beach day with a Bahamian accent

Disney built Lookout Cay on a quiet peninsula at the southern end of Eleuthera, where the deep-blue Atlantic meets turquoise Bahamian water. The beaches are long and wide, the sand is soft and pale, and the buildings take their curves and colors from local shells and plants. Bahamian artists, historians and cultural ambassadors helped shape the island, and the Goombay Cultural Center sits at its heart.

Most of the day is included: towels, loungers, umbrellas, a barbecue lunch and soft drinks. The ocean here isn’t sheltered by a breakwater, so the water can be livelier than you might expect. Plan for the half-mile pier walk at the start and end of the day, and book a cabana early if you want guaranteed shade.

Family Beach

Included

A wide stretch of soft sand lined with loungers and umbrellas, close to True-True BBQ and the Rush Out Gush Out water play area, which has two slides, water drums and fountains. Sebastian’s Cove, the island kids’ club, is staffed by Disney Cruise Line counselors, so parents can take a few hours for themselves.

Serenity Bay

Included · cabanas and drinks extra

The adults-only beach, with its own Serenity Bay BBQ and nearby bars. It sits right beside the Family Beach rather than in a separate cove, so it feels relaxed rather than secluded. Private open-air cabanas here are available for an extra charge.

Mabrika Cove

Included · cabanas extra

Mabrika means “welcome” in the Taíno language, and this is where you arrive from the pier and catch the tram to the main beaches. It’s also home to the family cabanas, set on a quieter stretch of beach away from the busiest areas.

Goombay Cultural Center

Included

The island’s arts and cultural pavilion, with programs and local artists sharing the traditions of The Bahamas, including Junkanoo music and crafts. Nearby, a nature trail leads toward the historic lighthouse that gives Lighthouse Point its name.

Good to know

Before you go ashore

  • Book as soon as you can. Cabanas are limited and often sell out, and booking windows open earlier for Concierge guests and higher Castaway Club tiers. Reserve in My Cruise Activities, or ask your advisor to do it for you. If the price drops later, you can usually cancel and rebook at the lower price. Just know the cabana you want could sell out in between, so check that it’s still available before you cancel.
  • Plan for the pier walk. The pier is about half a mile long and mostly unshaded, roughly a 10 to 15 minute walk each way. Disney built it this way to avoid dredging near the reefs. Guests with limited mobility can ask for assistance, and the tram runs from Mabrika Cove to the main beaches. Because getting back to the ship takes a while, most people stay ashore until they’re ready to finish for the day.
  • The ocean isn’t a lagoon. There’s no breakwater here, so waves and currents can change through the day, and Disney may close the water for weather, currents or marine life. Snorkeling is in the open ocean, so go only where the lifeguards allow.
  • Traveling with mobility needs? Tell your Harr Travel advisor about your mobility needs when you book. Our accessibility specialist can request the right cabana, rentals and cruise-line support before you sail.
