Majestic Princess

Princess Cruises’ third Royal Class ship was first built for guests in China, and she still carries touches you won’t find on her sisters, like the glass-roofed Hollywood Pool Club and Conservatory, plus a bigger casino and more shopping. We’ve walked the decks and filmed the rooms, so you can see your room before you book.

A Royal Class Ship With Her Own Personality

Majestic Princess was delivered by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, in March 2017 as the third of six Royal Class ships, and was christened in Shanghai that July by basketball star Yao Ming and his wife, Ye Li. She sailed in Asia and Australia before moving to North America in 2021. Danny filmed her in Alaska that year, just out of Glacier Bay. Some China-era spaces stayed because guests loved them, and Princess now lists Sabatini’s and The Catch by Rudi among her specialty restaurants.

Danny and his family have spent well over 200 days on Princess ships, and his daughter’s first cruise was on Ruby Princess. He calls Princess a great fit for couples, groups and especially multigenerational families. He walks you through Majestic from the top-deck pools and SeaWalk down to the Lotus Spa and the Piazza. Majestic Princess Highlights

Pool Deck & Movies Under the Stars on Majestic Princess

Pool Deck & Movies Under the Stars

Danny calls this a very large pool deck for a ship this size. The main pool is long enough for laps, with a small plunge pool, teak bench seating to dip your toes in and a central deck that becomes a fountain and light show each evening. Sun decks stack above, facing the giant Movies Under the Stars screen, a concept Princess created. Hot tubs are spread around, a welcome touch on cooler sailings like Alaska.

Danny's tip: “I love that they bring out popcorn and cookies. Picture sitting out here in Alaska with a blanket, or somewhere in the Caribbean or Mexico, watching a first-run movie.”

World Fresh Marketplace

The World Fresh Marketplace is a massive buffet with matching lines on both sides, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Expect an egg station in the morning, a carvery later in the day, and grab-and-go stations in the middle for charcuterie, sandwiches and salads. The Bakery doubles as a coffee shop, with pastries in the morning and desserts later, plus sugar-free and gluten-free options. Out back, guests can dine alfresco beside the Wake View Bar.

Danny's tip: “Most people stop at the first buffet line they see. It's human nature. I always recommend heading all the way to the back, because the other side has the same options.”

Hollywood Pool Club & Conservatory on Majestic Princess

Hollywood Pool Club & Conservatory

The Hollywood Pool Club is Majestic's adults-only solarium, with a lap-size pool, a pool bar and a glass roof that keeps it heated in Alaska and cool in the tropics. Projectors turn it into a party spot at night. Just forward, the Hollywood Conservatory takes the place of the Sanctuary found on her sister ships. It wraps around the front of the ship, and on Alaska sailings it has hosted a park ranger station.

Danny's tip: “Here in Alaska, the viewing from the Conservatory is spectacular. It's one of the reasons my wife loves this particular space as a sewing space.”

Camp Discovery

Camp Discovery splits kids by age, with programming tied to Discovery and Animal Planet. The Treehouse (ages 3 to 7) has a reading nook, a jungle gym with a slide, crafts and its own outdoor play area. The Lodge (8 to 12) adds skee-ball, air hockey, foosball and video games. Teens 13 to 17 get the Beach House, a grown-up lounge with nooks and games. On Alaska sailings, kids work toward Junior Ranger badges.

Danny's tip: “As an educator, I really value that they tie the learning and the fun together. If every member of the family is having a great time, it's going to be a perfect cruise for everyone.”

Princess Theater on Majestic Princess

Princess Theater

The Princess Theater has stadium-style seating and hosts the big production shows, with lots of energy, singing, dancing and classic songs guests can sing along to. Princess has invested heavily in its entertainment, and evenings rotate between productions, vocalists, comedians and impressionists. By day, the stage is used mostly for enrichment, like a series of lectures on Alaska sailings. It works with Princess Live! and the Vista Lounge, so several shows run at once.

Crown Grill

Crown Grill is Princess's original specialty restaurant, and Danny calls it an unapologetic steakhouse. Different cuts of steak lead the menu, along with lamb chops, veal and seafood, plus soups, salads and appetizers. An open kitchen fills the room with the smell of the grill, and booths and tables for two, four and six line the room. In front, the Crown Grill lounge has a piano and live music in the evening.

Danny's tip: “My all-time favorite starter is the jumbo shrimp. If you're celebrating a special occasion with friends, take advantage of the private wine room, with a table for six.”

The Piazza on Majestic Princess

The Piazza

Danny calls the Piazza the beating heart of the ship. Modeled on an Italian town square, it rises three decks, from five to seven, with glass elevators on one side. Acrobats, street performers, demonstrations and tastings fill the center, and a bandstand hosts live music every day. Around it sit the International Café, Vines wine bar, the Bar Piazza and Good Spirits at Sea, which also hosts cocktail-making classes.

Lotus Spa & The Enclave

The Lotus Spa covers massages, facials, seaweed wraps and med-spa treatments, plus a salon, a barber shop and pedicure chairs. A couples villa adds a soaking tub and a large steam shower. Space once used for karaoke rooms in the China years is now extra treatment rooms. The Enclave thermal suite centers on a hydrotherapy pool with bubble loungers, ringed by heated stone loungers, steam rooms, a sauna and experience showers from Siberian cold to tropical rain.

Danny's tip: “Head down to the spa on your first day for a tour, and they'll explain all the treatments. For the Enclave, you can buy a daily or a week pass, and the value is in the week-long pass.”

Signature Experiences on Majestic Princess

SeaWalk

A glass-floored walkway cantilevered about 10 to 15 feet off the side of the ship, so you look straight down at the water. Majestic has one on each side, and the port side adds a bar.

Chef's Table Lumiere

Tucked inside the Allegro dining room under a dramatic chandelier, this large table hosts a wine-paired, multi-course dinner. The chef comes out to explain each course, a memorable way to mark a special occasion.

Alfredo's Pizzeria

A Princess classic named for former Master Chef Alfredo Marzi and voted Best Pizza at Sea. Pizzas come straight from the open-kitchen ovens, with pasta, soup and salad too, a good pick for a light lunch or a late snack.
