This week’s show is a Caribbean planning session, with a Celebrity deployment deep dive followed by fleet news and your questions. Watch the full replay above, or start with the stories below.
Celebrity Xcite Opens for Booking From Miami
Celebrity’s 2028–2029 Caribbean season brings the sixth Edge Series ship, Celebrity Xcite, to Miami. The line has opened Xcite’s debut season for booking, with Caribbean itineraries visiting islands such as St. Thomas, Antigua, the British Virgin Islands, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Maarten and the Dominican Republic.
Danny is especially excited about the variety in those Eastern Caribbean routes. His advice is to look beyond the ship name: compare the ports, sea days and stateroom choices together. If a particular suite or connecting-room arrangement matters to your trip, opening week is a good time to get your advisor involved.
Xcite follows Celebrity Xcel in the Edge Series. Danny discussed the spaces he expects to carry over from Xcel, but expectations aren’t a confirmed venue list. We’ll keep the focus on the itineraries Celebrity has released while the line reveals more about the new ship.

Celebrity Beyond Adds Edge Series Weekend Getaways
For the first time, Celebrity is offering short weekend sailings on an Edge Series ship. Celebrity Beyond will sail nine three-night Bahamas getaways from Fort Lauderdale between November 2028 and March 2029. Beyond will also offer longer Caribbean voyages, including six Panama Canal itineraries.
Danny’s pick is the short cruise as a chance to try Edge Series life without taking a full week away. If you’ve been curious about the ship’s restaurants, pool deck or The Retreat, a weekend can help you decide whether to come back for a longer sailing. For travelers who want the canal experience and more time aboard, the longer itineraries deserve a look instead.
Which Celebrity Caribbean Itinerary Fits Your Trip?
The deployment isn’t just about the newest ship. Celebrity is giving guests several different ways to explore the region:
- Celebrity Xcel: Fort Lauderdale departures with more opportunities to visit Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, alongside Western Caribbean options.
- Celebrity Ascent: longer Southern Caribbean journeys for guests who want more islands and more time away.
- Celebrity Silhouette: Southern Caribbean summer voyages, followed by seven-night cruises from San Juan with five port days.
- Celebrity Reflection: year-round Caribbean cruising from Fort Lauderdale. Danny calls this his “sleeper hit” as the ship heads toward a planned renewal.
- Celebrity Summit and Celebrity Eclipse: additional short-cruise choices for a quick escape.
Danny loves starting in San Juan when the goal is to collect Southern Caribbean ports rather than spend extra days reaching them. For the ABC Islands, he recommends comparing the actual calls instead of assuming every itinerary visits all three. Our Celebrity Cruises guides can help you get a feel for the ships before your advisor narrows down the sailings.
Royal Caribbean Demand, Texas Sailings and Legend’s Next Chapter
Royal Caribbean Group reported third-quarter results above its expectations and raised its full-year outlook. The company also continues to plan an investment in Sandals and Beaches, with closing expected in early 2027. Danny sees opportunities for the cruise and resort businesses to introduce travelers to different vacation styles. Any future loyalty crossover remains something to watch, not a benefit to count on when booking.
For Texas travelers, Icon of the Seas is heading to Galveston in 2027, while Hero of the Seas is set to sail from Miami. Danny is enthusiastic about bringing an Icon Class vacation within driving distance of more families.
Legend of the Seas is moving into its Florida chapter after its first European season. Royal Caribbean has named retired U.S. Air Force Gen. Lori J. Robinson as godmother, with the naming ceremony scheduled for Veterans Day, November 11, in Fort Lauderdale. Danny plans to be aboard and hopes to bring viewers more live coverage from the ship.
He also highlighted Liberty of the Seas as a shorter-cruise option from Galveston following its refurbishment. His broader point is useful: the newest ship and the right ship aren’t always the same thing. Start with how long you want to travel, your departure port and the experience you want aboard.
Royal Princess Returns With the Sanctuary Collection
Royal Princess completed its October 16–30 drydock in Singapore with the Sanctuary Collection, a new Sanctuary Restaurant, O’Malley’s Irish Pub and an expanded Bellini’s cocktail bar. The work also added 20 staterooms, including five solo interiors.
The timing of the Sanctuary Club change matters. Princess says the adults-only space becomes exclusive to Sanctuary Collection guests beginning April 22, 2027. If you’re comparing sailings around the changeover, have your advisor confirm the access included with your specific stateroom and departure.
Danny welcomes the extra solo choices and the expansion of Princess’ premium experience. He also points out that new venues like O’Malley’s give more guests something to enjoy, even if they aren’t booking the Sanctuary Collection. Explore our Royal Princess guide for a closer look at the ship.

Danny’s Take on Norwegian’s Next Chapter
Danny discussed Norwegian’s marketing plans and changing approach to airfare promotions. His takeaway is that Norwegian remains worth comparing for travelers who want flexibility, varied dining and the option of The Haven.
For your own booking, compare the complete package rather than the headline offer. Air arrangements, transfers, dining, drinks and stateroom benefits can change the value of two seemingly similar trips. Your advisor can explain the terms attached to the sailing you’re considering. Barcelona’s Cruise Terminal Plans
In Spain, the Port of Barcelona has approved the concession changes needed for a replacement Terminal C. The project includes shore-power systems and solar generation, and forms part of a broader reorganization that reduces the port’s cruise terminals from seven to five. It’s modernization and consolidation, not simply an expansion of terminal numbers.
Danny is pleased to see investment in Barcelona’s cruise facilities. If you’re sailing from the city, build in time to enjoy it before embarkation. Our Barcelona port guide is a useful place to start.
Viking Goes Deeper on the Nile, and Uniworld Looks to 2028
Viking’s new 19-day Grand Nile Journey begins in 2028. It combines four hotel nights in Cairo with a 14-night sailing between Cairo and Aswan aboard Viking Ra, with 17 guided tours. Alongside Egypt’s best-known landmarks, the itinerary reaches less-visited sites in Middle Egypt.
Danny loved his own Nile cruise and is excited by the chance to spend longer exploring. For guests who prefer a deeper trip to a quick overview, this is one to discuss with an advisor.
Uniworld’s 2028 collection adds three ships and new ways to combine Europe’s rivers. S.S. Helen and S.S. Clara appear in the new collection, alongside Mekong Mystique in Southeast Asia. Highlights include a 30-day Amsterdam-to-Bucharest journey and an 18-day Danube East & West itinerary. Danny particularly recommends considering Vietnam and Cambodia by river, based on his own experience there.
Explora Journeys Reaches Two Shipbuilding Milestones
At Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa, Explora Journeys celebrated the float-out of Explora V and the coin ceremony for Explora VI. Explora IV and V are due in 2027, followed by VI in time for summer 2028. The ceremonies mark progress toward the brand’s planned six-ship fleet.
Danny also returned to the onboard food he has been enjoying, especially Sakura and Marble & Co. Grill. Those restaurant experiences are a big part of what he loves about Explora. Learn more about the brand in our Explora Journeys guide.
From the Live Q&A
Danny’s answers below are condensed from the live conversation for clarity.
Would Danny choose Explora Journeys or Silversea for a milestone birthday?
Danny would start with the itinerary. He loves the relaxed, contemporary feel of Explora, and calls Silver Nova and Silver Ray stunning ships. His advice: think about the atmosphere you want as well as the places you’ll visit.
What is the difference between MSC Yacht Club and a smaller luxury ship?
With Yacht Club, you have your private retreat and access to the larger ship’s entertainment and attractions. With Explora or Silversea, that smaller, more intimate luxury experience extends across the ship. It depends on which kind of vacation you want.
Which specialty restaurant does Danny favor on Celebrity Beyond?
Raw on 5 is Danny’s favorite, followed by Eden and Fine Cut Steakhouse. He calls Le Voyage a rich, special-occasion experience he’d enjoy once during a cruise.
Does a Harr Travel hosted cruise mean following a schedule all day?
Not at all. We have informal gatherings, some time together and selected excursions, but it’s your vacation. You can join the things that interest you and enjoy your own time too.
How early should we book a Christmas market river cruise?
As early as you can once the itinerary opens. River ships are small, and the departure or stateroom you want can fill quickly. Your Harr Travel advisor can help you compare the choices.
What is a ship’s coin ceremony?
It’s a maritime good-luck tradition during construction. Commemorative coins are placed in the ship, and they stay with the ship. It’s one of those milestones that makes a new ship’s story special.
