The Solarium: Your Ultimate Guide to Royal Caribbean’s Adults-Only Pool Area
A closer look at the Solarium on a Royal Caribbean ship. This adults-only space offers a bistro, pools, pool bar, hot tubs, and more!
Royal Caribbean is dedicated to creating spaces onboard their ships for each age group. Kid’s and teens have their own onboard programs and venues to pass the time, and for anyone over the age of 18, the Solarium is the ultimate relaxation zone.
The Solarium is found on all Royal Caribbean ships with the exception of the new Icon Class which offer two adult-only spaces- The Hideaway and Cloud 17. Here is everything you need to know about the Solarium on a Royal Caribbean ship:
Location
The newer ships have the Solarium located at the very front in the crown, while the Solarium on the older ships are found mid-ship near the pool deck. Some have an open-air Solarium, and others are enclosed, allowing for full temperature control.
Pools & Hot Tubs
The solarium is a more chill and peaceful alternative to the high-energy pool deck area of the ship. Here you will find large hot tubs with incredible views of the surrounding ocean, as well as a pool where guests can relax with their drinks and socialize with other adults.
Lounging Spaces
The Solarium is a multi-level space with lounge chairs surrounding the pool and hot tubs. There are comfortable loungers and day-beds that are all first-come-first-serve, and are a great way to kick back and enjoy a good book, or take a little mid-day nap. Planted all around are faux palm trees and tropical plants, adding to the zen-like quality of the space.
Solarium Bar
The Solarium offers a bar with incredible bar-tenders that will whip up your favorite cocktails and drinks. Grab a margarita and join your group for a dip in the pool. Upgrade your vacation experience by purchasing the Deluxe Beverage Package, so your drinks in the Solarium are free all cruise long!

Solarium Bistro
The only space in the Solarium that does not have an age restriction is the Solarium Bistro. This complimentary dining space is an extension of the Windjammer for breakfast and lunch. This is the spot for a quick and easy meal throughout the day.
In the evening, the Bistro turns into a Mediterranean-inspired complimentary dining venue. Guest can enjoy dishes such as watermelon & feta salad, baba ghanoush, delicious fish options, and more- all served buffet-style.
Note: On some ships, the Solarium Bistro is the location for the popular Chef’s Table- a multi-course, wine-paired, chef’s choice, specialty dining experience. This is something you will want to book well in advance, as there are very few spots available on each sailing.
