A Closer Look at The Boardwalk on Utopia of the Seas – Royal Caribbean’s Brand New Ship
A closer look at all the onboard offerings and venues you will find on the Boardwalk on Royal Caribbean's brand new ship- Utopia of the Seas
Utopia of the Seas has begun her inaugural sailing out of Port Canaveral Florida! This highly anticipated ship is 6th in the Oasis Class lineup, and will be taking guests on 3 and 4 night cruises around the Caribbean, with stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay on most itineraries. Royal Caribbean has made Utopia the “World’s Biggest Weekend”, and is bringing back many fan-favorite offerings, including the “neighborhood” concepts that the Oasis Class is known for.
One of he most famous Oasis neighborhoods is the beautiful Boardwalk. This space is a nod to a bygone era and the carnival atmospheres of the beach boardwalks such as Coney Island or the Santa Monica pier. Here guests can have fun on the famous Royal carousel, or enjoy delicious all-American dining at several different eateries. Here are all the venues you will enjoy on the Boardwalk on the Utopia of the Seas:
Boardwalk Venues
Dog House
The Dog House is a Royal Caribbean classic, and the spot for a quick bite in the middle of the day. Enjoy a simple frank or bratwurst with your choice of toppings and condiments, as well as all-American sides of coleslaw and potato salad.
Sugar Beach
This specialty sweet shop is a must-stop when on the Boardwalk. They offer a range of confections to satisfy any sweet tooth, from fudge, to cupcakes, to to-go bags filled with candy. They also serve specialty ice creams, offering a delicious menu or fun combos and toppings.
Indulge in the “Chocolate Blackout” topped with brownie pieces, chocolate drops, and Nutella drizzle; or go for the extra sweet “Cookie Crunch Split” with waffle and oreo crumble, chocolate sticks, and butterscotch syrup!
Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade
Playmakers is a quintessential sports bar, and one of the most popular Royal Caribbean venues. Enjoy a burger and beer while watching the big game or playing in the arcade. Menu highlights include: Pile of Nachos, Pigskin Sliders, Truffle Burger, Wings, and delicious comforting desserts such as an ice cream sundae or warm chocolate chip cookie baked with marshmallow and Nutella.
There are several fun arcade games that can be found in this space as well, making Playmakers the perfect place to spend the evening with your family and friends.
Johnny Rockets
Offering a fun, all-American, retro atmosphere, Johnny Rockets serves up shakes, burgers, and fries that will throw you back to another era. This spot is the perfect restaurant for the whole family, with all the favorites including the Original Burger, Crispy Chicken Club Sandwich, and the favorite Cookies and Cream Milkshake.
Carousel
One of the staples of the boardwalk ever since Oasis of the Seas is the carousel. The carousel lends to the old-fashioned, carnival-style atmosphere of the Boardwalk, and is the spot the kids will want to come back to time and time again.
Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen
While this is not technically located on the Boardwalk, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar deserves a mention for its new location on Deck 11 and 12, overlooking the Boardwalk. Giovanni’s is now 2 stories tall on Utopia, and includes a new al fresco dining space- Gio Terrazza. This is the spot for delicious, pizzas, and other authentic Italian dishes.
