Celebrity Cruises pulled back the curtain on its 2028 deployment, and it’s a genuine shift for the brand. The Mediterranean sees its largest-ever Edge-class season, with Excel, Ascent, and Eclipse sailing 7- to 11-night itineraries across Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, and Morocco. New for 2028: calls at Bari, Italy, plus a year-round Eastern Med program with overnights in Alexandria, Egypt. Perhaps the biggest surprise is Celebrity Beyond leaving her usual Caribbean summer home for 14- to 18-night Norway, Iceland, and Scandinavia sailings, while Apex takes on the British Isles — the first time an Edge-class ship has run that itinerary consistently.
Both Beyond and sister ship Reflection are also headed for dry dock refreshes bringing 13 new onboard experiences, including the Orange Peel Bar and Grill, Tacos del Sol, and a revamped pool club already popular on Celebrity Solstice.
On the Royal Caribbean side, Ovation of the Seas is being redeployed to Asia for summer 2027 after shorter 3- and 4-night domestic sailings underperformed — a change worth noting for anyone with future Ovation plans.
Norwegian Cruise Line confirmed Norwegian Gem will home port year-round in Philadelphia starting April 2028, and three ships — Luna, Gem, and likely Breakaway — will run Bermuda round trips from the East Coast next summer.
A few quick hits: Oceania’s Nautica (soon to be Aurelia) is getting a luxury refit with roughly 200 fewer passengers and bigger suites ahead of a 180-day world cruise in 2028, while sister ship Riviera will run a 39-day “Reef to Glaciers” journey from Asia to Alaska. And Holland America has added extra 2027 sailings timed around a solar eclipse and the Northern Lights.
